It's not going to be FFXI-2. It's never going to be FFXI-2.
But there where some damn good things about FFXI that really made it stand out and I'd like to have some of those nice things in this game.
It's the Cheese and Bagel crowd that is ruining this game....we need more Muffins.
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
FFXI-2 FTW
If you want to solo an enemy, fight something your level with weapons that are for your level or a small amount under your level. Enemies just a little under you serve just fine too. I'm level 35 and have no problem soloing enemies with my Flametongue that are either my level or a little under me. Also certain enemies shouldnt be challenged...plus you could built up with materia if you want to hurt higher level enemies.
Even on my lower level Marauder, I have no issue as long as my weapon matches or is a little under my level, and i'm fighting enemies that are either at or a little under my level.
And everyone on the team has already stated that they have no aim to make in XI-2, even though some aspects might be similar just like every other FF title.

Hey guys. I like pizza.
10/14/11 - FFXIV community civil war erupts. "I'm paying and the game is gonna be awesome." VS. "I'm leaving and the game is gonna die." Let the battles begin!
You must be doing something wrong, I'm level 17 and I'm hitting 50s on auto attack.
I wonder what period of XI people are referring to usually when they compare XIV to it. What comes to leveling up solo, it became a lot more doable some years back. Before that, it was pretty much impossible to solo at almost any level after 20 or so, well, not impossible, but ludicrously time-consuming.
Nowadays, due to Abyssea, Grounds of Valor, and adjustments to Fields of Valor, it is a complete joke to level up there now. One might compare it to the current 'power-leveling' hazard that is going on in XIV (though which will be seeing changes in the next patch or actually it was implemented already, just noticed). I haven't really seen it though, just read about it here.
I played during Alpha and Beta, and just a week or so ago, I got this game as brother suddenly wanted to try it out now and it has become rather cheap (around 10 EUR) so I got it as well. So basically I only had a few days or so to play during pre-patch and well, yeah, it was a change due to me putting a lot into Vitality at start (pushed it to 50) and had over 900 HP at around level 10+? or something, I can't remember... and after the patch, I was around 300.
That said, I leveled up all the jobs, I mean classes, to 5-19 in a rather short period of time, solo, and it can't even be compared to XI, not even now. Since I just started, I didn't have any money or gear to help me out either. The quests certainly reward more gil than similar ones in XI do, so in that regard, it's a lot easier to start going but there is very little gear offered at the starting levels, or rather it's too expensive still or not made at all. The 'AH' system is quite ridiculous which might have a little bit of something to do with it, and the other of course is that there is not enough players making them or there simply is no reason to. It's certainly my luck that they dropped the prices of some NPC gear just after I got them, by more than 50%!
The leve-system annoyed me quite a bit as I have always hated it when the game limits you like that (imagine Assault in XI, or Limbus, or old time-restrictions on Dynamis, but especially Assault). The recent change to that made it a lot more tolerable, however. So yeah, leveling up solo feels quite OK to me. I wouldn't mind a bit of a boost to that, but what I would like more, would be something to the crafting classes as they are feeling really sluggish to me right now.
There certainly are a lot better things in XIV when compared to XI, but I think XI still has more... That might be mostly due to my personal opinion, but yeah, XIV is far from what XI was, or is, which in a way is a shame I think. Can't wait for PS3-limitations to hit, though!
Ooops, well that went on for quite a bit.
As a conclusion, I find it funny how people rage over the 'I quit' posts. Why care? Why not let them? It's not out of your pocket if a person creates a thread you do not like to read.
Free tip: Don't read it. ^^;
Also, to return a bit to Experiencing Points but not to get this off-topic (as if it still was there anyways); where or what are the EXP-bonus items they mentioned like so: "There are several pieces of low-level gear which grant their wearers experience point bonuses." I have not stumbled upon any yet myself. S:
Testing something...
