Did it for the glamour. I have no regrets
I bought stream for the stream and I do not regret it (even though I had to stay up all night two nights in a row for it). I am also going to buy the other two streams because I want to watch them. The only regret is that outfit comes with the same code as minion and I won't be able to give away the third set, therefore it will have to be discarded.
I've got mixed feelings about this.
It was worth it to me because the amount of stuff they gave us access to was well worth the $30. Getting to see the lore panel, costume contest, pvp exhibition, and both concerts was enough to justify the $30 and we got the minion and outfit to boot. DEFINITELY worth the price in that regard.
However, it wasn't worth it for a few reasons too. They guaranteed an HD stream, which most people would SAFELY ASSUME means 1080p. The highest it went was 720p and the stream stopped to buffer at times and then skipped tons of stuff. It's absolutely egregious to make us pay $30 for a stream only to have it stop to buffer off and on sometimes. It was especially annoying during the concerts.
Overall, I'd say it was kinda worth it though, despite the sometimes crappy stream quality.
Side note about the costume contest: Did anyone else think the PvP BLM should have won? I think her outfit was better than the DRG.
They pretty much did the same set up with similar rewards at the 2014 fan fest but charged $10 this time.
I bought the live stream mainly for the yuna outfit, but since we have to wait until february, i do regret buying it.
I don't regret getting the stream but then again I knew roughly how much info we were likely to get on the expac from the previous set of Fanfests. I am quite satisfied.
To me personally this year it felt more of a crash grab than an event dedicated to the fans. From what I saw and what I heard from people who were actually there, this event was mostly just trying to see how much money they can get from a customer. The very lackluster live letter that gave zero information and was nothing but glamor and housing question was topped off by a 10 minute "Buy this overpriced SOLD OUT merchandise" as the "Special announcements" portion was just a slap in the face to me.
Here here. And while I'm at it, its simple economics. There are enough of us with disposable income who like things like this. Just because some doesn't understand why I would pay for something like this, doesn't mean I care what they think. I work hard for my money and what I spend it on is my business.Y'know, it's one thing to be displeased with Square and say they should have offered or done more.
But to sound so condescending and downright insulting to those who did buy it, not seeing anything wrong with supporting a game and development team they love, is beyond rude.
By sheer probability at least some who complain about this smoke or drink regularly. You don't see me complaining to them. And if $30 every 2 years is to much, maybe you need to game less and work more?
