Please realize that you can use a higher grade of carbonized matter than the materia you are trying to meld, so people who overstock on g5 can use it to overmeld the g4 materia....

To get 700 gp you need fully melded ironworks gear and probably food. You also need to use a cordial to get your GP up or wait a couple of in game hours for it to regen. Its very easy to get G5 carb matter in comparison to G4 its almost laughable. All you need is 700 GP. Toil > Kings Yield > Profit.
It doesnt make sence that we can gather stacks of G5 per hour but have to settle with such small amounts of G4 even though technically they are required to pentameld far more than G5.
Yeah, how is this easier than waiting for 4 in game hours to get a guranteed stack of 15, more with bonus, with only 500gp and no consumables?

The comment (and this thread) is mainly targeted at max geared (best in slot) gatherer's and the issues they are currently facing relating to carb matter. If you don't have the things you listed, then you will not understand the issues.
Easy is a subjective term i agree. Whats easy to some is not easy to others. But for the purpose of this discussion, to make all things equal, we are assuming you are a max geared Gatherer.
Weather your aware of it or not, you've actually just highlighted one of the major issues. The fact that a max geared gatherer with the latest Best in Slot melded IW set and 700gp with a pocket full of cordials has no advantage in gathering G4 carb matter vs. someone who just hit lvl 50, is wearing NQ quest reward gear and hasn't even purchased Heavensward.
Does that seem right to you?

Seem fare to me, as G4 carb is only a lv50 (no star) item. Thus, any gatherer with lv50 gear should be able to get it.The fact that a max geared gatherer with the latest Best in Slot melded IW set and 700gp with a pocket full of cordials has no advantage in gathering G4 carb matter vs. someone who just hit lvl 50, is wearing NQ quest reward gear and hasn't even purchased Heavensward.

But as a no star item, shouldn't it be available from regular level 50 nodes? Why is it limited to unspoiled nodes, which are otherwise just for starred items and clusters?
Because it used to be end-game melding matter in ARR before HW showed up. They never really changed the system for gathering it.
