That girl was already mentioned by Yoshi-P to be a important NPC for the 4.0 Main Scenario. Who she is will be revealed soon in 3.X as we will be meeting her sometime in 3.X Era which probably means in 3.5 Main Scenario.

I thought she might be Yda but apparently the Lore book indicates that Yda has a sister....

Biggest flipflopper ever. The guy just change his main job to something popular in each patch.

I'm wondering if the woman is just the female representation of the WoL and nothing else. FFXIV does have a large female audience, and more than a few games have attempted to showcase that. Mass Effect comes to mind.
Because horizontal always works out so well. People never min/max or make guides on optimizing your classes/gear/etc. FFXI also didn't have sub-classes that were flatout deemed worthless. You mean the non-existent endgame? We'll never never get it. This is a vertical progression MMO. Endgame is and forever will be just a couple fights from the latest patch and never more, unless they go horizontal, but clearly that's not the intention. On this, i feel your pain.
As for other stuff, i respectfully disagree. Story was cool. Dungeon design was better on the whole than the 2.x areas. I probably like Binding Coil more than Alexander on the whole, but ... i liked it well enough?

Bet the WoL may end up switching to Machinist in 5.0 trailer if it is the Garlean Empire Expansion since it is the only Job that can be linked to Magitek and cloest thing to Garlean Technology.
or maybe the Gunblade Job if SE plans to release it for 5.0.

Just gotta get this out there. To all those people who are flat out adamant that that is the dancer class in the trailer, why in the world did Yoshi not announce it during the keynote? That logic makes no sense whatsoever. That and she's using monk moves in the trailer, and the slashing seen in it could very well be the slashing you see during the dragon kick or demolish animation.
Also:
When Gundobald approached Yda and mentioned her role in the resistance long before she joined the circle in 3.4, goes to show that she will play a key role in 3.5 and in 4.0. Though reading the posts about the lore book...the person we have known as Yda all this time may very well be someone pretending to be her. Either way, I don't think we should dismiss the possibility of that being her in the trailer. Yda is a Pug, and if you remember at the end of 2.5 it showed her mask break a little and reveal a blue eye. I'd say it's her or this sister of hers. The tattoo mucks things up a bit, but this isn't the first time they messed up a trailer, aka 3.0

Not that I disagree with you, but I have to point out incase they do something silly like they did with arcanist that all three of those are pugilist skills
