This happened a few days ago in Manor Normal, during my Mentor Roulette.
The tank was a leaf Gladiator, synced to the maximum lvl of 31 for that dungeon. Unsynced, he was lvl 38. Immediately, I have warning bells going off.
He then proceeds to facepull the first Sucubus and the pack behind it, and then proceeds to spam uncomboed Rage of Halones and Riot Blades on a single target. No flashing, no cooldowns, just Rage and Riot. Threat is flying everywhere, and I'm trying to ask him to stop so that I can at least try to explain what he's doing wrong. Eventually, he runs ahead while I'm typing, and dies. When he rezzes, I ask again for him to stop, and he does. I explain how the combo system works, about chaining skills in order to produce certain effects, and how to flash to generate threat on multiple targets.

His response is "lol..", and then he proceeds to pull the next group and spam uncombed Rage and Riot.
I cracked, and told him that I would not heal him until he started using his skills correctly. He died, and then left the instance. We got a replacement tank, (and dps since one of the dps was lagging, and left after the tank abandoned), and the run went smoothly.
I'm not happy with myself, but lets face it, as a healer, you can't heal stupid.

My favorites are tanks who pull huge groups, don't pop cooldowns and call you a bad healer. They also have some friend who can do it no problem, despite you having decent raid gear which probably shows you know something...

I'm confused. What makes a level 38 doing a level 31 dungeon a warning bell? The leveling roulette always put me in level 16-28 dungeons when I was 30+.

Healer's sixth sense. Sometimes when we enter a dungeon/trial we just know inside our healer bodies that the run will be painful.

Key word was Gladiator. He's 38 and hasn't picked up his job yet. A good sign that someone doesn't know the ins and outs of the game well enough to be considered a passable player. Of course, the fix is easy, but they have to listen when you explain it to them.

That and, sometimes what I see, is someone way over leveled for a MSQ dungeon but there's a rookie bonus. Maybe not bad, but implies a bumpy ride.

Granted, I know someone with a 60 Archer/Rogue who refuse to pick up the jobs for them...

Did I miss a memo and STR tanks became viable again? Because if they did, that guy was a terrible example and I kinda want my brain back. At least I got my A9 loot, I guess...

A11. Myself and a co-healer friend. Got prey? better run into people with it and take 2 other dps out with you. OT got GA-1000 (or whatever it's name is) better literally CHASE after your healer with it lmao. There was no new player bonus. We did clear eventually after the 4th wipe with a clutch healer LB3 but mercy it was horrific to heal. Had to apologize to my friend for dragging him into that afterward xD
