Fan Fest announcements will determine my future in this game..

When and where did he said that? Cause that would be the final nail in the coffin he needs to prove everyone he has lost his edge and a new director is needed.

But let me spell it out: IF somebody is no longer capable of a job, THEN they should be replaced. I admire Yoshi for all he's done but IF the reason FFXIV has been in Play-It-Safe Mode is his direction of the game, THEN we need a new director.

However, I doubt it is his direction and more limitations that he's being stuck with. I believe* his orders are from higher up, and rather than having the funds from XIV used to fund it, they're being redistributed to VIIR, XV, and KH3.

*unsubstantiated but those projects sure did pop up and back to life after XIV became successful

The problem is that even if they reveal information during fan fest, most of the content promised or hyped up are not implemented or it takes them a whole year/two before even considering of putting it into the game. In most cases we see a watered down version of something that sounded very promising and exiting, looking at you PoTD. Or content that was exciting than needed to be nerfed 2 months later (raid content for example). After all, I can see why you think that the game gone stale and consider of moving on, but I think there's no reason to wait till the fan fest live letter announcement etc. If yer done, yer done, move on.

I struggle to understand how this is enough motivation to dump your free time into. As a grown man, playing virtual barbie or dress up does not sound the least bit enjoyable to me. If I had to accept the fact that "well the game is all about acquiring new dresses and boots" I would stop logging in that day. I would rather play Pong at that point.

I think, or at least have hope, that they really will make an attempt to change things up in 4.0. I think its common sense that the game needs to evolve at this point. Ill watch the fan fest details closely and see what their vision is moving forward. They are supposed to revamp diadem in 3.5 as well, and as I said earlier I liked the diadem concept. I will continue to hold out hope for now. I recently started messing around in ESO however if it really disappoints.

In a way it is up to us lol. If people suddenly stop subbing one day, Square would probably put him on the chopping block first.

Like I said, I admire Yoshi for the work he's managed--a miracle, making this game with nearly no budget. I just wish we'd see the quality go up as his budget goes up as well.

As someone who has only been playing for about a week, there seems to be no end to the things to do. How long does it typically take in FFXIV to reach the end-game ennui that tends to be part and parcel of MMO's? Still having a blast, for what it's worth!

You have a LONG way to go before you would ever run into most of the grievances I've brought up here. For a new player, ffxiv is rich with things to get through. You can mostly ignore my thread and press on. Enjoy the story, dont skip it all
