Cul is my favorite for ixali/dyes - gotta taste those flavours!

If you want to help power level / over level your chosen tribe crafter, I also recommend doing the daily GC turn in. You can buy the item off the MB if you have the gil, and at least at level 50+, you can get 25-50% of a level if lucky.

Well while it's true what other people are stating, Ixal can be done as a none crafter if you wanted, or let me rephrase without having to craft anything. You could pick up all the crafting professions (lvl1) and then just buy from the vendor/market board the daily turn ins that the ixal quest asks for. Just like the daily provision turn ins from your grand company is a part of the ixal quest. You definitely lose a lot of experience if you are not doing the other quests, but if you don't plan on crafting at all, that would be one way to get rank 7 with the ixal. Be aware so, it will take much longer than just doing the quests. Moogle is sadly locked if you are not crafting at all. I've done it on couple of my alts, since my main has everything 60 (crafting/gathering) and I didn't wanted to do it with the alts. My main focus was just getting the moonstones for the relic

Thankfully the Ixali quests are GENERALLY really lenient. Towards the end some of the High Quality stuff they want you to do can be a huge pain in the butt, but they are doable. I'd recommend leveling Culinarian through the Ixali quests. Hasty Touch (Level 15) and Steady Hand II (Level 37) are two big crafting abilities and they'll help you High Quality a LOT of stuff really easily. Even if you don't become an end-game crafter, having those abilities will make stuff easier for you in the later Ixali missions.

Another thing of note - the Rank 6 and 7 Ixali missions require you to unlock Fisher, Botanist, and Miner. You only have to be Level 1 on any of these classes, but you do have to gather materials for certain quests.

Thankfully they learned from the Ixali quests and the Moogle quests are SUPER EASY in comparison. Many of them don't require you to craft anything - simply to collect items or do something with a mount (You just have to be on a Level 50+ crafter to do them), and the ones that do have crafts - about 90% of them only require normal quality. The quests also don't require you to do any gathering or anything else either, so they much more streamlined.

You are wrong, you have to craft for the rank up Quest from the Ixali, so no complete to do it till max rank without crafting, same for moogle, to rank up you have always to craft something...

fine you have to craft 1 item for the rank up quest, it doesn't take any requirements reason I said you do not need to craft.... in my world that's not called crafting, if it takes no effort at all.

To be honest the more I'm reading the more I'm thinking I won't waste my time. I don't have the time or the interest in levelling several classes that I don't want to play into their 30s to get cross-class skills. I'd rather cross class was done away with altogether :P

Thanks for the info though guys, I appreciate the help. Wish I'd known this before I levelled the other beast tribes.

But you don't really need cross-class skills for the beast tribes (many Ixal quests even lock out cross class skills).
Only if you want to craft something high level HQ.
Just equip a crafting tool and try out the first quests to see yourself

Ixali beast tribes were designed for non-crafters to level up crafting. It's basically content tailor made to suit you. You're missing out if you don't do it.
