I think it's fine to have some incentive items. It will go down in price drastically or get nerfed eventually as always happens in these events. It is a bad thing. People who want the hair are either prisoners to the RNG, or at the mercy of the market. It's BS, anyone the RNG smiles upon is effectively gifted X amount of gil, and anyone not, is shafted for that amount. Great way to make me feel good about running PotD which has become one of my least favorite things to do.
6 million on Behemoth? Forget it. I'd rather roast a moneterist.
All I've had is single fireworks. I don't think those sacks contain anything else.... Unless the guy evaluating them is on the take., I thought he was dodgy

It's a female elezen doing the appraising. She gave me some minions at first and now she's decided to just give me fireworks now.

Yep. Once a upon a time, the Thavnairian went for millions. Now? 9,000 on Balmung.Supply and demand is a thing, every single novelty item ends up devalued after more and more people already have it while more and more people keep getting it, the hairstyle went from 10m in PF to 1.2m in the marketboard in just a day, and we don't even have the good accursed hoards yet, by the time 3.45 is out that hairstyle will be pretty much worthless.
Well, at least it's a step up from being at the mercy of RNG or nothing. This way there's an alternative available for those who would rather pay for it than just keep grinding and grinding and grinding until they get lucky.
And prices will come down. (It sounds like they're already starting to.) Once more of the people who want the hair already have it, the hair that drops is more likely to end up on the MB, and fewer people will be buying. It won't be long until it becomes a trash drop you can maybe put up for a few hundred or thousand gil. It's only expensive now because it's still new enough to be rare.

I got lucky and got the hairstyle really fast but I still find it bad to put this behind RNG..clothes, minions, mounts..all those I can understand but not one single hairstyle..Were the amount of people doing the palace so bad that they needed another incentive so soon?
And I truly dislike that you get fireworks out of this..one time I had 7 bags...4 of those were firework..at least if you put them in the bag make the amount higher..one firework is even more useless.
Well the good point in this is that more people are in Palace so it's easier to get the weapon ^^"
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
Well since its now sell able on the MB and you can get it even on the lower floors (thank god..) I fear that this will not last long. And does this mean that the palace was already that death that they needed another incentive for people to run it? Well at least I can do it solo in the lower floors and hopefully get lucky at the same time and get some upgrades for my weapon and some items for the mount.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

I understand your frustration, but that's pretty much how the entire game and its items/ economy works. Like the coffin lid a few patches ago, rare Aquapolis drops, and even crafting mats from primals - sometimes you're the one that lucks out and gets a hefty bonus to your bank balance, and sometimes you're the one that misses out.
That being said, 6 million is completely ridiculous. The idiot who actually buys that deserves to be parted from their money.

I got mine yesterday, but not by my own merits, instead it dropped to my bf. Apparently the animation of the appraisal is disco-like, with lots of flashes and lights. I have yet to see it drop to me after 150+ appraisals ;_; bf got today a second one and he's around 80ish sacks. Prize on Excalibur has dropped to around a million right now, with maybe 20 in stock.
But I am so happy ^^ I don't have any highlights on and it just looks gorgeous, I wanted it so bad ever since I saw it in the trailer ;_; the cut on the back is perfect imoIdk if you can see it but if you look closely, you can see all the irregular incisions, just like real hair!
