That's an easy fix: don't lock Blue Mage abilities in Savage content. Problem solved. Come on it doesn't take much creativity to find ways of fitting something like BLU into FFXIV's class structure. RDM and BLU could also serve just fine as hybrid jobs if they were forced to lock into a specific role for group content. Plenty of other MMOs already have this exact system. It's been done before yet people constantly act as if it's impossible.

As for the Fan Fest, I'm not sure why there's even any discussion of what they will or won't show. Why not just look at the last three fan fests and what was revealed at each regarding Heavensward? The Vegas event will likely give a teaser of the CGI trailer along with some overview of the theme of the content and such. The job reveals will probably be reserved for later but they may be teased as Yoshi did last time.

I'm not sure if the current DF can handle a job that can queue as multiple potential jobs. It usually decides your role depending on the Job your currently in. It's hard to say if it can uses a stance to tell the difference or if DF can stop you changing that stance once your in the actual content.

BLU would be an interesting Job but I am not sure if it would survive the transition to FF14's role system without losing some of the charm of a BLU mage. I think the most likely outcome if they do introduce it is that Monster Abilities will be learned in Job quests just like other classes. That also ensures a manageable ability to balance the class over all content.

it is weird how df looks for roles, but even if you sign up as a paladin you have to go in as a paladin/not warrior or drk. I think alot of it also is because it tries to do the 1 melee 1 ranged thing as well if possible, usually go as smn with my smn buddy though. If it just looked for roles, that would be a first step and then having the ability to sign up for multiple roles, wouldnt be too hard to do imo sure would speed up queue times

and yes i do believe the blu would just get staple monster skills from job quests(whitewind, aquabreath), and probably some short cooldown reflect back monster skill for every day use on mobs with generic skills. Or maybe cross it with Gau from ff6 where youd be able to copy a skill they use like enfire, or whatever buff they put on themself. Big BLU fans probably wouldnt like it, but it still could be a bluemage, just not how it is in its original forms, but enough so that its a bluemage from eorzea.

Even better. Yoshi p will walk on stage wearing a shirt with a picture of those folders someone snapped a picture of one year, and one of those folders will be labeled samurai. How long ago was that lol?

Don't expect much info in the first Fanfest, which doesn't mean the first one won't be a blast, especially for people who attend it. The last time, I saw many people mentioning they felt a bit depressed that Fanfest had ended.
