This is the exact reason I would like to see a system in place like Final Fantasy XI had with skills (Enfeebling magic, Enhancing Magic, etc.). You can get PL'd to max level, but you'll more than likely have the stats of a level 25, because of how fast you burnt through the levels.

There'd still be people who did it, but you'd know who they were by their gimp stats!

lol this has got to be one of the most miss guided things i read so far... you clearly have not been around long enough to understand things. and please do tell the " Legit " Way to Level, cuz putting in endless hours seems legit to me. 8 people fighting non stop seems like hmm.... exping grinding... which hmmm is legit?

yoshi already gave his stance on PL'ing, basically he said he doesn't care. in fact it seems like he likes it. So there cant be consequences for people that have done it.

That being said, i think there should be a bigger nerf on xp when players that attack a mob are out of a +10 -10 lvl range.

Being able to PL was intentional. He likes the idea.

He just wants to tone down EXP rates such that you actually have to be able to contribute.

The idea of power leveling is to allow new players (such as myself) the chance to come into the game and play with their friends at their level rather than playing solo for 6-8 months to get there.

With the negative press out there on this game about how it bombed out of the gate, SE needs to put these incentives in to build their player base. Without new players, these servers will get shut down and no one will be playing. Keep in mind also that once they overcome the initial negative reputation of the game, it will revert to pay as you play. SE is a business and they need income to pay their employees. They need a return on their investment.

I feel there should be some sort of punishment for those who willing took advantage of power leveling. Either a rollback of the ill gotten experience points, or even a suspension or ban for the really big exploiters. It's unfair to those that leveled legitimately.

No thanks, don't want another 900+ reply thread on rolling back the rollback of the rollback of the rollback. People will rage hard, especially if there are any new players.

There was no dev response for a long time on this. That, and the comment YoshiP made during the LIVE, people probably thought this was a pass go and collect $200 and was intended.

As much as powerleveling is a shade of gray, time was still spent on progressing characters and the like. (No matter how fast)

I don't think they want to spend development resources dealing with this while they can be using those resources to further improve and develop the game.
