I checked this thread when it was at 5 or 7 posts on page one, and my first thought was "I can't help but think that calling herself 'MistreatedBalmungPlayer' is not helping her case, already gives this thread an overdramatic note" but I refrained from saying anything because cyberbullying is horrible and I'd never want to call out a victim of that on being overdramatic. There was just this faint smell of drama alert..and boy did this thread deliver °-°

Always interesting to hear the other side of the story everytime someone comes on the forum to complain that they "always get kicked for NO REASON AT ALL" or "people are bullying me even though I am a nice innocent person" and all that. Well, I have not even once seen an instance where the bad behaviour of the other players wasn't brought onto the "victim" by themselves because they acted horrible first, and as I can see now, this is appearently no exception either
Also, what is it with Balmung and their tumblr-connection? Seems like any and all drama Balmung players have always ends up on tumblr for some reason..

Actual on-topic answer now:
I prefer it the way it is. I have a few friends that are switching names and servers a lot, so keeping track of them is only possible through this very Lodestone feature.
There are also some people I want to keep track of as well to avoid them, usually because they did horrible things and then tried to cover it up with a namechange.
Honestly, I do think a certain level of accountability is important; can't let people get away time and again with bad behaviour just because they changed their name
