    You say this now, but your tune will change if your favorite class becomes the red-headed stepchild and literally no one wants to run with you.     Besides, if you want to bark up the uniqueness tree, you should be looking at mechanics and the foundation of FFXIV's combat engine. Every job is married to TP and MP, for one...

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

    Sadly they have achieved really good balance by making everyone the same. It's a blessing and a curse.

    I like ninja the way it is. If they want to make us more stealth then buff our stealth abilities but don't take the abilities to fight in the front from us.

    Ninja in both history and fictions were also trained to fight in the front. It shouldn't be a stealth-only job.

    To increase ninja stealth abilities... how about:

    - Some kind of smoke screen ability that completely remove the user from aggros, so the user can use Hide during battle.

    - New ninjutsu: Mirage, create illusory copies of the user.

    - Make BRD/MCH unable to expose ninjas from Hidden status. Why do musicians can find hiding ninjas anyway?

    - More poison usage.

    - Buff Trick Attack. In other MMOs, stealth attack deals shitload of damages.

    - Buff the movement speed while hiding.

    - Give us back the running speed trait in PvP.

    - A gap closer ability that's been missing since day one.

    Blackmage felt more proper like a blackmage in 1.0 when it used Thunder as its main attack spell, with Fire as AOE, Blizzard as slowing and threat reducing.

    I really hope they change BLMs in 4.0 that they use Thunder instead of Fire, and I would accept anything else tbh. I just love the cracking of Thunder way more than a whoosh of Fire

    MNK currently really feels like what it is, a fighter who uses methodical and almost rythmic placement and techniques to damage the opponent.

    MCH also doesnt need change as it works like a mechanic who will use his whole arsenal of machines, gadgets, enhancements and what not to power a single attack. It does feel a bit lacking when stuck in 1-2-3 mode but thats just a minor gripe i have with it.

    Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

    Keeping everything nicely balanced means anyone at any time can use their favorite job for any bit of content. I certainly wouldn't want that to change for any relatively minor reason as "is doesn't fit job lore in other games."

    Since I main a NIN, my only complaint is that we don't have a reason to use Sneak Attack. Ever. My reasoning is because SA has a potency of 500 if hit from the front. Now I understand that TA has the vulnerability up for the whole party. I'm not arguing that it's better, I'm saying I'd like to see something added to SA that makes it viable to use in group content. I love having a 500 potency ability, but I hate never getting to use it. It would be nice if they switched the potency's of the two attacks. Especially since SA is your "beginner" ROG ability that's supposed to introduce you to TA anyway. Just my two cents.

    As far as my main goes, NIN is largely thematically consistent with the class's appearances in most other FF titles, so I'm pretty happy with it. I do wish there was more emphasis on Stealth (taking queues, perhaps, from WoW's Rogue and its variety of openers and ability to re-enter Stealth in combat to re-use them).

    Most of the other jobs are relatively fine, but I think SMN could use some work. Both narratively and thematically in terms of its gameplay it lacks focus and isn't really sure what it wants to be. I'm hoping they do some work on it for 4.0 so it feels more like a SMN from other FF titles (I think some of the issue for me is the conflation of the "Green Mage" from FFTA with Summoner, though, and I can't see their DoT/Debuff aspects going away).

    I am bad at quoting so I will just retype in its entirety what I posted in the DPS forum but for summoner:

    I know it doesn't solve anything really, but what about aesthetics? What if our normal spells were replaced with "lesser summon" equivalents that do the exact same potency/damage/debuffs?

    Say you cast Ruinous Omen(shadowflare) but when the cast is done a Diabolos (no larger than a male roe) would come out and throw down a Ruinous Omen dome. That would be our new shadowflare. Cast Final Requiem(bio2) and Siren comes out and drops Requiem on the enemy and vanishes. Fenrir for Lunatic Cry (miasma) etc. Make all of our base spells these "mini" summons and then we can do something interesting with our actual Egi after maybe D: This way we would be summoning all the time and they would be classic type summon (one cast one effect) and we keep Egi.
