Yeah, you're right, it certainly does.
Now wouldn't that be something. If the ancient ancestors of the Garleans were complicit in the worship and summoning of an Eikon.
I want it to be true, just because I think Regula's reaction upon learning such a fact would be hilarious.

I have actually long thought the Garleans to be of some relation to Allag, in a bad way though. I believe they are result of some aether manipulation stripping experiments on people, to make a citizenship or workforce that's unable to contest their superiors. Imagine Nael's face if he found that out, that his descendance was from his ancestor being a stripped-of-aether slave of Allag.

Last I looked the "aetheric flames" that land on the scales are green (Wind) and yellow (Lightning). In the live letter Sophia was shown using Wind based attacks (it actually was a copy of Aero III just with a different color, darker) and lightning based attacks.

And as mentioned above, Sephirot is wind and earth and maybeeee water. Him being also water would fit the whole conjurer theme more but the water part is just speculation for now.

Its too early to imply things like "Sophia is a garlean".
Wouldnt it be better to make an speculation based on what is known so far instead of just throwing whatever our minds think? LOL

Throwing my hat into the 'What is an Eikon' ring: I assume that Unki's story about trapping Primals in White Aethercite and carrying them around being a bad idea is relevant to something. Therefore my thought is that Eikons started as regular Primals, got killed and trapped in the Aethercite only to end up possessing their captors. This would fit in nicely with Odin, his sword could have an Aethercite core or stone worked into it somewhere.

I have absolutely no idea what a harmonious and "loving" diety that brings all together and get along. would want vengeance. But im pretty sure allagans coming in to purge, enslave and genetically modify her children is probably a just cause for revenge. I originally thought she was a miq'uote goddess alone by the face of her, so mercydia now i want to go there. I thought it was kitty/bahamut land, now im really pumped to hear more about this area in general. It sounds like an old eorzea, desecrated by the allag for research.

It's worth mentioning that Meracydia was never in danger of Allagan's invasion until the end of 3rd Astral Era, when Amon resurrected cloned Xande. We do not know the exact time Allag and Meracydia first made contact, but given that Syrcus Tower was already built during their glorious days, I assume contact between Allagans and Meracydians had been established by then. Enough time for each nations to share knowledge between them, assuming relationship between the two was fine until Allag invaded.

So, is it just me or does it look like she has a 'Third Eye'? It could be decorative, of course, but aside from the dark hue of her skin there's the stark white hair (another Garlean trait) as well as the name, 'Sophia' which matches the Garlean naming conventions.

It could be - and likely is - nothing of note but it's a curiosity I couldn't help but observe.

It does look like she has a third eye, and her pale white hair does give an uncanny resemblance to a Garlean (obsidian skintone notwithstanding). Regardless, "Sophia" is a Greek word meaning "wisdom," while the Garlean names and terms frequently use Latin.

Still, the Romans more or less paraphrased Greek religion into their own... so maybe you're on to something. Maybe.

Instead of being Meracydian/Allagan thralls what if the adds in Sophia are just victims of her infamous Cloudy Heaven attack?

For the unaware, in FFVI, the Goddess would eventually retaliate with Cloudy Heaven which would make any character whose HP hit zero turn into a zombie for the remainder of the battle. Zombied characters would attack allies and counted as "dead" for purposes of game over-ing. I think Cloudy Heaven had an extra wrinkle by applying a Doom timer and the Zombie being incurable.

The Zombie from Cloudy Heaven isn't incurable innately.
It can end up incurable if the character is wearing equipment that makes them immune to zombie (such as a Ribbon) due to the way statuses are programmed in VI- if a character is immune to a status they are inflicted with it cannot be removed.
For some reason (maybe the use of the Doom Counter?) Cloudy Heaven checks against death resistance instead of zombie resistance and so can be rendered ineffective by equipment like the Safety Bit.

It'll be interesting if Cloudy Heaven is worked into the fight or lore in some way.
