economy why not thing be cheaper like jp servers

Why is there so much inflation in the markets and everything costing so high. You can really buy stuff you need cause everyone wants to jack up the price. i find that really bothering me that I have to pay so much for something that isn`t even worth that much. on the Japanese sever I was on titan the economy was good just was not high at all. it is cheaper than the NA servers. so I would want to know what the people about this.

disclamer: This is not me but a bunch of people I have talk to today.

Player based economy means that players set the prices. If SE wanted to make them more lower and even, then they'd have to force prices, which players would not enjoy.

Also take into account supply and demand.

Generally, the more crafters and gatherers on a server, the lower the prices. On Balmung, the largest population NA server, we have a lot, so the prices are about 1/3 of those on the smaller NA servers. I have heard the prices on Japanese servers are more reasonable, but I haven't checked to see if they are similar to Balmung's or if they are even lower. I would be interested in hearing more about the similarities and differences from those on other servers.

In order for supply and demand to produce a socially and economically desirable outcome, the criteria of perfect competition have to be met.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_competition

Ingame economy is dominated by oligopolies which are acting as price and quantity setters, rather than price takers. It is doubtful this situation is different on the JP markets - the price setters just set the prices differently.

The why is anyone's guess. I have my doubts competition is the sole factor - even on a Server like Balmung with incredibly little RMT and a large amount of players, it took months for the prices of the Anima stuff to arrive at a price comparable to the JP day 1 prices.

That's been said before, and I agree that gil from dubious sources may be driving some of this, there has to be a fairly significant amount of tainted gil in circulation given that RMTs continue to survive and thrive...

Generally, in the past people have jumped on anyone suggesting such things as if they are somehow making personal accusations. In those instances I can't help wondering whether the guilty dog barks first...?

Let's start with this. If the item is actually selling at a price, then that's what it's worth. It may not be worth it to you, but that item is worth that much.

If things are expensive, that doesn't just mean it costs a lot to buy things. It also means you earn a lot of gil when you sell things. You make larger amounts of gil. This generally balances out.

The differences between servers only really have an effect when it comes to game generated gil. If you rely on game generated gil, then yes, you're going to struggle on NA servers compared to JP ones. This also means, however, that prices that are set by the game are incredibly cheap. A house on an NA server is much cheaper than a house on a JP server, despite them costing the same.

Because the game "creates" gils. The more you play, the more gils you have, the more you'll accept to pay and the more prices will go up.

It's also because some people are stupid.
In FFXI and XIV, people have literally bought gear from an NPC, and put it on the market for twice the price. And it sold !

I was doing that during Betas and when the game was still fresh. I made hundred of thousand with only that.
Then did the same when housing was released. I remember buying 5 stables ( Which are worth 120k each ) and sold them 500k gil each.
