Well this all comes up to what you are fighting.

Do you have to move or not. Because that Changes the order on jobs like BRD MCH SMN BLM.

If you don't have to avoid attacks. I believe the order is. MNK,DRG,NIN for melee And SMN BLM MCH BRD for Range. For rare numbers. But if the job isn't play perfectly a great BRD with a good RNG can out DMG other jobs with bad RNG.

In a fight with little to no movement and downtime, assuming equal skill level, a BLM will do more than a SMN. If the SMN does more it's because they have adds to pad their numbers.
