FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

I haven't seen anyone throw a tantrum in the way you just described.. Because what you actually just explained is how fan service is accomplished. Remember the noise for a Ruby & Sapphire remake, Majoras Mask HD, Skyrim HD, Dragon Quest VIIIs port, and many other fan requested items.. There's nothing wrong with it.

Tantrum might not have been the right choice of words. Still, it would be better to make a third clan for Miqo'te, where their ears are longer, their tails either incredibly stubby, or gone and maybe even a little taller.

People thought the Miqo'te in this picture was a Viera, so...

Not sure why you're rolling your eyes at this. Persistently asking for things and drumming up support are great ways for the customers to let developers know the kinds of things that they're interested in having. It was this very thing that got us Terra's Theme on the Magitek armors. And who could forget "Fantasia or Riot", another thing that was eventually implemented due to player demand?

If folks continue to push for Viera as a player race, I guarantee you that it will receive further consideration, and will likely be a strong possibility if SE decides to add an additional race in the future.

And, whatever Yoshi P has to say on the topic, Yoshi P says many things that he goes back on later on. He's human, just like anyone else, and is in charge of a franchise for which he needs to keep a finger on the player pulse, and make adjustments accordingly. While no one should expect the devs to implement every hare-brained idea a player posts, there's little doubt that they are watching, checking out which ideas garner a lot of player support, and weighing the pros and cons of adding them to the game. Nothing Yoshi P says should ever be taken as an absolute.

I really hope it isn't Vieras I either want something completely new or maybe one of the beast tribes as a playable race. Well if it is a water theme then maybe Poroggo, I dunno I just like the idea of a full animal race instead of a deformed hyur.

Like in certain games , the creators ask everyone about what characters would you like to see next in their game and create a bug massive poll to see the publics opinions.

Could do the same here. Create a poll for every forums (GR FR EN PJ ETC) and find out what race is the most popular or likely to be included

The category that got the most votes was "Mammalian Demi-Human" but that was most likely because they used Viera as an example... >w>
