Could it possibly be Ixal? Look at all of the very little armor they wear... It contains a large amount of feathers, since that is their dream to regain flight.Your entire argument falls apart when the object in question is not in actuallity a "Native American War Bonnet" it may look like one, but it is not one. Therefor the cultural impact and damage is only perceived by you in your limited perspective.
In FFXIV it is a collection of feathers, perhaps a tribal head-dress of some tribe that is assuredly not of Native American descent.
What next no pants because someone made them first?

Dreams should be allowed to fly as free as the birds in the sky.
Tell ya what, if you can find a whole bunch of Native Americans who are deeply offended by the idea of a Japanese game developer using those headdresses in a video game, then you might have a case...
Otherwise it's pretty much one of those "Someone somewhere at some point in time might possibly have a chance of being slightly upset" situations.
I'm curious what tribe OP thinks it's offensive to. Or if they believe all Native Americans fall under the same culture...

These aren't "people" wearing war bonnets. These are animated 3d models. Bam.

So the Taiwan people are guilty too?

there actually are a number of native americans who are upset by the warbonnet.. there's a lot of uh discussion going on outside of the forums about it which is why OP posted...to draw attention to a sensitive issue. politely, at that! so i think it'd be nice if we could at least try to be considerate of why people are upset abt the warbonnet specifically. some of the people posting here are a wee bit insensitive. i don't think it's wrong to try to draw SE's attention to something that people find offensive... &anyway the highlander's outfit in the preview i think could look a little more fantasy/less obviously native american-esque? i don't know if that would be less offensive to the people who are upset about this or not but it does seem out of place to me
I still don't understand /which/ tribe you think they're offending?there actually are a number of native americans who are upset by the warbonnet.. there's a lot of uh discussion going on outside of the forums about it which is why OP posted...to draw attention to a sensitive issue. politely, at that! so i think it'd be nice if we could at least try to be considerate of why people are upset abt the warbonnet specifically. some of the people posting here are a wee bit insensitive. i don't think it's wrong to try to draw SE's attention to something that people find offensive... &anyway the highlander's outfit in the preview i think could look a little more fantasy/less obviously native american-esque? i don't know if that would be less offensive to the people who are upset about this or not but it does seem out of place to me
>.>......
Mithra sometimes had these sorts of outfits if they were the leaders of their respective tribes in ffxi, personally i wanted one too. I'll be getting this outfit for my miqo'te as soon as it comes out and wearing it /proudly/ sorry if that offends anyone but... err... tough cookies. My huntress wants her tribalwear to go along with her proud miqo'te heritage.
