Because they've made it quite clear that we're never, ever, ever going to get new egis, carbuncles, fairies, w/e.
So, the option to pick which ones we want to occupy the 2-3 roles given is the compromise they offered.
It doesn't make any sense for me (Titan using wind-aspected Garuda skills, wat?) but whatever rocks your boat i guess.Yoshi said that since the current EGI fulfill all the pet roles that the Summoner needs, they do not see any need to add the EGI of the remaining Primals. To compensate, they will give the players the option to use a glamour system on their current EGI. So for example you use Shiva-EGI glamour on Garuda-EGI, the EGI will look like a Shiva EGI, but it will do the Garuda attack and skills.
Its the only way we will get Ramuh, Shiva, Levi-chan, Bismarck and the other remaning primals as EGI. I find Shiva-EGI casting fire-based skills weird, but sadly this is a take it or leave it scenario.

Pretty sure prior promises for the Egi system included spell/attack names and visuals. Just the same effects (DPS Egi grants counter-shield, Tank Egi has AoEs, Caster Egi has DoT extension, etc.).
But then, who knows, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they did only bother implementing a face-swap, if even that.

Which is fine by me. They needn't bother wasting time with all these little things like spell names (which for the most part, only you will see), some probably minimally changed cast animation and particle effects - They can save themselves a lot of time just colouring the spell effects differently and it'd be absolutely fine.Pretty sure prior promises for the Egi system included spell/attack names and visuals. And let's be real, everyone for the most part is going for Carby, which shares the same cast animation for all types (just like how the Egi does), nobody is going to look at or perhaps even notice a spell come out of a Carby (or any new Egi glam) and be disgusted, etc.
They are literally wasting time thinking such things for this glamour system are needed.

Eh, personally, I for one really like the particle effects and other little details that the devs work into the game.
If they were to actually make this system, I'd like for them to do so as well as they can. Which I like to think is how they treat everything that goes into the game, it's just a matter of time and the ease with which something can be integrated or tacked on.
So if this is something that takes them longer to do right, I for one am fine with that; I just wish we knew a little more about where things stand.

Ishgardian housing was said to come after apartments that would come with 3.4.The conspicuous silence on this, and the possibility of Ishgardian Apartments, both having been previously teased as aimed for 3.4, were the biggest disappointments regarding the update imo.
I could handle them being delayed...I just wish that the devs would give us SOME comment on them.
We get apartments with 3.4, so maybe with 3.5 we get Ishgardian housing.
They have a tendency to NOT give you SOME comment on things because they know people will take these comments and blow them out of proportion.

That's not how it will work, Shiva won't be casting fire based skills, she will be casting ice based skills with ice animations that just do the same thing as the egi that she is glamoured onto. So if you glamoured shiva onto garuda, you would still have contagion, but it would be called something else and would be an ice based animation.

If Carbuncle glamour gets slipped into 3.4, great. If not, I'm quite confused as to why Carbuncle, already existing in-game with animations and its own skillset icons, is still not available. At this point I can only guess they are intentionally withholding Carbuncle as an egi glamour for "reasons." Mind you, I don't even like Carbuncle, but it would be progress/ as way of saying "We haven't forgotten."
The last I recall hearing Yoshi-P acknowledge new actual egis, several live-letters ago, was just presenting the dilemma of them releasing all the new egis at once (I'm assuming Ramuh, Shiva and Leviathan), or staggered as they are ready. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming that they decided to hold off until they're all ready.
I will be happy if this was completely discarded. I think is a useless and a totally pointless idea. Not a big loss here and I main SMN too so I'm not bothered in the slightest.
