I was extremely extremely lucky about a month or so ago when a friend alerted me that there was a abandoned small plot in the Lav beds. No one else was around and I was able to finally get a home. After seeing how quickly the wards got ate up on Gilgamesh when patch 3.2 hit and I missed out. I was really upset. So I know for a fact I won't be trying to score a apartment too. I am really hoping people who actually have nothing will be able to get one.

On that note however, People who want a house/apartment in general have a dilemma. I bet there is a 95 percent chance there WILL be some housing plots opened up cause as SE said the timer was only paused. So if the owner haven't logged into their home since April? When the patch hits. That plot will be free. So I guess the question is, Do you want to try to race to one of those? or a apartment? Being on Balmung or in my case Gilgamesh. This is sort of Critical to consider before patch day. Also make sure you turn down your graphics settings to the lowest it can go. So things will render in faster.

I do agree though SE needs to really change the housing system entirely and stop screwing everyone over.

Jenova's one of the lower population servers, and all of our housing is gone. There are a number of folks in my FC desperate for an actual house. The 180 apartments per ward (counting main and sub) will help a little, but not much overall. I agree they really shouldn't let housing owners purchase apartments too unless the purchaser is the FC leader. Of course, I'm also of the opinion that we should be limited to one thing per server and all alts can use the house/apartment rather than allowing alts to buy things outside an FC room, and that we should increase our furnishing limits. But that's just me.

I think it will go just fine on Diabolos. When the new wards came out, Mist sold out the first day. Lavender Beds took a couple days, possibly 3-4 for the larger plots. Goblet was open for a week and a half with the final mediums finally selling. I highly doubt apartments will sell out completely. I've got gil saved up for FC members who want a personal small if one pops up from that reclamation timer in our FC ward. The key is to check a couple times a day, which if you maintain a garden you are on doing anyway.

Actually, as I understand it, the timer will pick back up wherever it left off when they paused demolition.

So the timer will restart with however long they had left at the suspension, not that people who haven't been in since then will have the plots emptied.

The warning was for the possible scenario where their demolition was scheduled a very short time after they suspended the demolition such that when the timer is reinstated at the patch availability the time will start ticking down again and possibly run out before the servers are available to log on to.

This is what I find a little confusing. I wasn't playing at the time that the housing reclamation was implemented, so that might be why, but I'm still a little fuzzy about when exactly a house gets demolished. Is it exactly 45 days, down to the minute, from the last time the owner was inside? Or does it count the 45 days to the nearest day for the game (not the Eorzea time, but the hour of the day that the daily quests, roulettes, etc. reset)? Or is it something else entirely?

It gets offset by maintenance a bit so it's hard to get the exact time down. 45-ish days since the owner last stepped in.
