So, 6480 Appartments per Server, and Housers can get an appartment ON TOP of the house.
Well done, SE. Swing, Miss, Epic Fail.

The thing is... It's completely useless to take an appartement if you got a house
Except if you plan to transform it as storage
That's the only reason
Because we all know that those who are planning on profite will be Hunted down 8D
Restrict Apartments to people without a house, please.
People having a house and an FC room? Fine.
But absolutely do NOT let them be able to buy an apartment. It defeats the whole purpose of apartments being a thing in the first place.
Wasn't it to combat housing demand? I know that plenty of people do not want to have a FC room purely because they don't feel certain about them staying in the FC in the first place. Not to mention you can be removed from the FC at any given minute. Plus, another thing. FCs can restrict people on using the chocobo stables.
A house? You'd really have to make an effort to lose it. So why allow people who have a house to get an apartment? It absolutely makes no sense. And why even 90? Even on low population servers these apartments will be swooped up almost near instantly.
Right now, as it is, it's not even a bandage to the housing problems people face. Take this as a plead, please. I may be a house owner but I'd like people to be able to experience a place that can be theirs without the looming fear of being booted from an FC purely because things went unstable or something along those lines.
Please, increase the amount and change it while it still can be changed or things might catch fire!

Oh... wow they sure don't think these things through; you'd think after all the complaints, feedback, problems and so on they would finally 'get it' instead of making more problems and terrible ideas, but alas.
Worst part is... my house is right next to the building in The Goblet, which I gunned for because of its out-of-the-way location as a retreat. Now it'll be subject to people loitering, cutting through, poking around in my garden and ruining Raubahn's Salute and the Sultana's Breath - which are nice places to sit at undisturbed.
I'm only partly joking, too. I'd really love for them to move this elsewhere in The Goblet for a few of the above reasons.
I'm confused. Where did the 512 rooms per building come from? Thats been floating around for a few weeks.. at the same time it's kinda hard to believe that 90 was a mistake to put in that post. Sigh.. suppose we will know with the next live letter. I hope.
The 512 was said in an interview / live letter or something a rather. Basically it came from the developers.

Q: Auto-reclamation for housing starts this month, but can you tell us if there will be any future additions of plots?
A: We'll be increasing the number of plots for existing housing areas in Patch 3.3. After we expand those areas, we'll add apartment-style housing in Ishgard areas afterwards, starting with one apartment-style building which will hold about 512 residences. We’re also planning to make chocobo stables available for use to residents of apartment-style housing. Gardening patches are still proving somewhat difficult, but we’re currently developing new “planter pots” that will allow gardening.
As per demand, we are also looking into the prospect of increasing the number of indoor furnishings which can be placed in residences.

Well done, SE. Swing, Miss, Epic Fail.Meh, it feels like they didn't even bother to swing. More like they lift the axe up midway, then go, "nah, not today~" and drop the axe.
Speaking of how players get own both a house and apartment room makes me really conflict. On one hand I understand it's a dick move to get an apartment room when I already have a house, but on the other hand I know there will be many players who will get the apartment room and leave it empty or worst, re-sellers.
Decision, decision...
Alright, I take back my words. Based on a recent interview, yoshi-p confirmed that they can increase the limit to 500 apartment per building when they wish. The reason they didn't was because they wish to spread the populated out across all wards. With something over 30K apartment per server, there should be plenty of apartment for all players on nearly every server.
I actually like the idea of lowering the limit to even out the population, kudos to yoshi-p or whoever suggested the idea.![]()

it says they are adding and apartmant house to every district and subdistrict. we have 12 districts 12 subdistricts per housing area and 3 housing areas. and with 512 apartments in every house...
12 + 12 = 24 x 3 = 72 x 512 = 36864 apartments on every server...
that would be enough i think :O
but with just 90 in every house? why would square do this?

This is laughable at best. I have plenty of housing to play with and still think in no way should I be able to buy an apartment along with that. Frankly I don't want one but 90 per ward? The only reasoning I can see behind this is that they want to make sure they are fully occupied and therefor creating a social aspect. That's not even a good reason though. The wards are all purchased up and it's still not really social enough.
You'll need to change your 512 to 90. We aren't getting 512 apartments per building anymore. I should really stop holding out hope for housing in this game.it says they are adding and apartmant house to every district and subdistrict. we have 12 districts 12 subdistricts per housing area and 3 housing areas. and with 512 apartments in every house...
12 + 12 = 24 x 3 = 72 x 512 = 36864 apartments on every server...
