FFXIV 2nd expansion: Viera-like race still a possibility?

Would it be so wrong to have something that looks like it would fit the aesthetic of the current game world? Surely Veira are more consistant with the current races than any "Bestial" race mentioned. Fierce is one thing, but "Bestial" denotes many different things that more often seem to include the Beastmen races more than anything. Can you truly imagine the end of "The Vault" dungeon with the player character as an Amal' Jaa? The "Ceremony of Eternal Bonding" with a Gargoyle? What about a Mindflayer doing the summer event, or an Ogre preforming the Thavnairian dance... My point is, it's easy to ask for things without thinking of all it entails. I can think of two other games that fulfill the desire for unique "Bestial" races the reason i play this one is because unlike them the it has the FF setting, the look, in short FFXIV is not those games.

Many here have claimed that even if the request for a "Bestial" race was implemented they would only use them as an alt, still others have claimed they would not use them but instead just like them as option for others to use... Effectively saying "I like the idea of someone else playing an "ugly" race but not I, I'll stick to the better options."... why would the development team even bother pouring resources in to it with that kind of sentiment around?

True. And even I tend to argue as much. But there is a middle ground between a Malboro and a furry cosplay. Hell, there could be a middle ground between a Sahagin and a furry cosplay. Like cover the entire body with fur or scales for starters. Or tree bark. Or feathers. What is set in stone is the human looking face for emotes, the existence of hair for all the hairstyles, and the number of limbs for animation. Everything else is a fair game. So why not give us lalafel sized vieras with tentacle beards?

Also, the Viangaa April Fool's prank didn't help with Viera hype any.

Anything that's beastmen variety, Viera, Dwarf, etc would make more sense to have as a playable race than a Morbol.

Only reason we haven't seen Viera is because the dev team doesn't want another basic human with animal ears race. Really aside from that the only requirement is that armor won't have to be completely remade for the race to wear it. (Why beast tribes are not playable races)

I'd like to see the black mage species from FFIX come back in. Or maybe a robotic/cybernetic Allagan creation race. Merpeople would be a viable option if the Sahagin didn't already exist.

Nope, no teaser. But Astrologian didn't get a teaser as well. Yoshie-P isn't duty bound to tease every surprise.

To be fair I think the Au Ra tease didn't work out very well. Everyone with half a brain figured out that Yugiri has some draconic or at least lizard like features. But because of the mask and secrecy it was assumed that she is less hot and more beast like. So maybe that's why Yoshida is keeping the new race under wraps (if we get one, which is of course far from confirmed.)

The people that dont want Viera keep asking for a beastial race. For the last time WE WONT GET A BESTIAL RACE. The dev team refuses to rework armor to fit them. So you gotta think ehat races you want that are 90 percent human looking.

Either add something really new, or improve on what you have. Heck give Miqo'te a third clan with bunny ears, increased height and no tail and you basically already added Viera >_>
