Only 1536 apartments per server?

Honestly, I am getting tired seeing "but on Balmung. Balmung is overpopulated and should just be closed to any kind of new characters (creation and transfer9 for the time being.
There are plenty of servers in the cluster so why not transfer away if the housing situation is that dire?

Honestly, I am getting tired of being told that it's my fault I chose to join my friends on Balmung on Dec 1 2013 when Balmung was not at all full or a problem. As if somehow I was a precog who could see into the future that Balmung would be overpopulated. Telling people to transfer away is well. :/

Let me explain why the word usage needs to be specific and why it's 'not just semantics' that I am pointing at the use of 1 apartment per ward.

Wards 9 through 12 will be added to all residential districts. Subdivisions will also be available in these new wards

They made -sure- to note subdivisions so that everyone knew how many plots would be added per residential district. Also keep in mind how the subdivisions in teleports are per ward. You can only use the aetheryte system per ward but it includes subdivisions as areas within the ward in its hierarchy of teleports and naming (If you go to each of the 12 wards you see Ward 1 tab 1-30 tab 31-60. It's not Ward 1 Ward 1 Subdivision.

Assuming the translation is accurate, that's a little over 18k rooms per server. (512 rooms * 12 wards * 3 town)

Is subdivision counted? If counted it's 2x 18k room.

I don't see why it wouldn't be counted. The buildings exist in subdivisions as well. They are literally a separate ward, just mirrored and with a different entrance. But the buildings are there. I doubt they would lock those off while only unlocking the first ones.

If you have been on the server this long and don't have a house, why not share with one of your friends? Or maybe you have one already? I won't look you up just to find out your personal housing situation. If the situation is not influencing or getting to you enough to be fed up of the server, I don't know why you feel addressed.


I mostly think that any kind of transfer to Balmung and any kind of new character creation should be blocked at this point. Furthermore, transfers from Balmung to another server on the US cluster should be free of charge. People that are just not transferring because of the fee will take SE up on that and the server will get in a better state.

Once again, I am only saying that you should transfer away IF not having housing is getting to you in a way that ruins your gaming experience. This is not a call to everyone that has been there for years to abandon the server.

Myoriginal statement stays though18k apartments will serve most the servers. There should not be extra planning just because people overpopulate Balmung.

They have already stated that additional housing may be added to address the over burdened servers such as Balmung if the aparments don't alleviate the situation. Balmung itself is a bit of a unique problem for SE as while its not a designated RP server, it is /the/ rp server. While there are pockets of small communities else where any rper joining the game that wants to get into immersive rp has little choice but to go to Balmung. It is because of rpers that I imagine very very few people would actually transfer off the server since so many are trying to fight to get on it. That said it is both a player made and a SE made problem that SE has said they will address, the first step of which is apartments. So while we may not have enough apartments for everyone, we will most likely get additional relief.

Well it really depends on how the apartments are built into the game. If they are a fixture within a subdivision then maybe it would make sense to have an apartment in both subdivisions. However the apartment entrances could be in both subdivisions and used to access the same apartment complex. Or the apartment complex could be a pseudo subdivision in and of itself. The wording makes it appear 1 per ward, but maybe something could be lost in there? We'll find out in a couple of weeks.

Ah right, I got the numbers wrongly. If we include subdivision as well then that's like 36k rooms per server. Which though might not be enough for every single player, is still a decent number for now I guess.
