Well society mentality is, "a girl" - start to flirt or say something that you think sounds nice, but the girl(s) might not share the same opinion-. I can understand straight guys will find it awkward, but: hey, you are playing as a girl in front of everybody. Mistakes can happen so just clarify it and tell them, "Hey bro. I am a dude." Some people might say. I don't care your character is hot. I want to "whatever they come out with" or other people will say "Oh, sorry, man" (internally: eww).

Why "ew" though? A good-looking game character is just a good-looking game character lol. If a girl makes a hot male character she's just.. hot xD. Maybe guys just think they're gay now? I dunno lol.

This is a good case to ditch the pronouns and use "they","their", or the character's name unless they actually tell you otherwise.

The reason to why the "eww" is because the straight male players want to eventually flirt with the person playing behind the screen because they want to cyber, get goodies, get a gf, etc (pick your options). If a girl makes a hot character, the male player won't bother because his goal is to get to know the girl behind the screen...now if you meet a gay guy now he can be the one doing "oh gosh a girl" =p OR they become BFF.

How many cases have we seen of women and men (girls or boys) falling in love with people's personality. A lot of people got depressed when they learn the person's true gender, but they should have asked before they start to get attached to that -character and the person behind the screen-. AskaRay, I think your character is hot.
