    Pvp newbie

I've wanted to start pvp but I've seen a few posts on here, which make me scared to even start!

I used to wander into the larger front lines and always had a lot of fun, I used to play as blm, where (back then) I was told my role was mainly secondary support, like slowing, freezing, etc. Has that changed much? Tbh I'm worried about taking a blm in there at all, particularly 4x4 matches - I don't think it's fast enough. If anyone could offer some insight I would be appreciative.

Also, just so I am clear, is pvp just the players on your world? Or is it like normal df? I only ask as the queues are so long and have timed out on me occasionally.

    Thank you

I rarely see ppl using BLM in The Feast (solo). Usually I play against SMN, NIN, BRD or DRG. Also you being a new player to the Feast should prepare for playing with alot of toxic players. I thought the community of FFXIV is super friendly and that was the case until I started playing The Feast (solo).
PvP is just like normal duty finder. You'll see players from all EU/NA servers. The score board also shows what server each player is from.

PvP in any game always manages to attract the bottom of the barrel in elitist nerdom who think it's okay to be terrible human beings in a competitive, hierarchical environment. Hence, I personally have no plans on even trying it.

That is why you don't read that party chat. At least there's an important information that is giving hints of a new strategy, I just don't pay attention to it. We need to learn when to ignore bad comments to show those people that their opinion, when it becomes toxic, have zero value.

To that, I say "Who dares, wins." Yes, you'll find all kinds of personalities within PvP, not all of which you'll like or agree with, but if you decide to not try/restrict yourself from something you might potentially enjoy (or not), you're doing yourself a disservice.

I don't battle because I want the approval of others, nor am I overly concerned with someone's negativity (especially if only for the sake of being negative). I battle because I enjoy the thrill of it. The passion of it. I enjoy victory. I don't always win, and I understand I won't always win. But knowing that keeps me grounded and always ready to give my all so that I can win. Let the pettiness of elitism or bad attitudes be damned.

OP, if you want to try, I fully encourage you to try. If we're on the same team, I've got your back. If not, I won't go easy, and expect you to do the same

The thing is, I actually share some of the same reasoning as you do for playing PvP on that basic level. The problem I have is the reality that comes with it, and I've actually tried PvP in other games before this one such as League of Legends and Pokemon.

With LoL in particular, I had to put up with around three or so years of what is arguably the worst mmo community in the history of the genre. I can only put up with so much before the seemingly endless stream of... what to call it? "Tier-shaming" and flagrant bigotry dished out by a playerbase who seems to unanimously think they can be as rude as possible to individuals on the internet with no consideration of how badly it impacts a player's experience. If I was newer to this I could probably have an easier time desensitizing myself from this and just "enjoy the game," but part of an mmo game experience is the community, and it gets harder and harder to ignore it the more aware of global/systematic issues I become and how badly this can potentially damage communities. The fact that these toxic attitudes bleed off into other games with even the most minor competitive potential doesn't help, and even by lurking in this forums I'm pretty certain my PvP experience isn't going to be any better with this game.

But yeah, my perspective here isn't from someone who is really "scared" of PvP more as someone who is quite jaded and tired. That isn't to say anyone shouldn't go out and at least try it out, especially towards the OP, but that's my own stance on the matter.

-No thrill, no fun. Servers need more conflicts among FCs and sieges for war territories
-Some Melees mechanics are not fixed. Animations and cooldowns are designed only for pve.
-Split a new skillbar and pvp gear with this limited inventory is so frustating .
-Frontlines are fun but have long queue and it is not ranked.
-No one in-game knows about the winner of feast's season. No impact on servers

....And the list of bad things never ends .

In addition rarely you can talk about pvp in this forum with so many pvp hater
