I think this is situational and it depends on the healer.

Personally, I do mind when DPS are just standing in AoEs.

I WHM main, BLM second, and when DPS are standing in AoEs it means I have to take my focus off the tank or the what the boss is doing, potentially putting the whole party at risk.

If playing with a random party, it's probably better to try to dodge.

If you die your DPS goes to zero.

I find the BLM too punishing to be enjoyable, like, even when you've mastered it, screwing up is still possible and the DPS loss is very harsh. Not to mention mobility.
Other DPS classes do as much as damage as the BLM (if not more) and aren't half as punishing as it. 2.0 BLM despite being simple, looked reasonable. This one is too over the top for me.

I do find it frustrating sometimes because of the cast times + constantly having to move.. especially with how slow this combat system can get.
but I play/enjoy elemental mages in every mmo.. I just don't find myself enjoying any other class as much as I do with an elemental mage.

Seems simple enough to me. 2 timers and 2 cookie cutter rotations. One for ST and one for AoE.

Most other classes are just boring to me.

This was posted over on reddit and is pretty relevant to the topic. You'll need some extra spell speed and pie to do these reliably if you're a fresh 60, but they aren't very hard to master. This isn't really different from the Back in Black guide, but is probably less likely to make your eyes glaze over.

If you are not confident enough with the 60 BLM's rotation, I may suggest to rise spellspeed, to have more room for movement and recovery when things became too active to stand still.
But keeping enochian in itself is pretty easy, you must simply not focus on casting as much Fire IV as you can, sometimes, simply swiching to UI 1 with Transpose is enough to cast a Instant Ice IV and refresh Enochian in time.

I found this new rotation to be very interesting, it does allows you to unleash frightening high numbers in few seconds, but you need practice in order to do so. It is a job with a lot of skill enhancement potential.

Most of BLM I saw struggling with Enochian are those who cannot break their usual rotation and adapt to a situation. Just focus less on casting Fire IV and more on being reactive on your skill. Transpose helps a lot to maintain Enochian

The more you practice and get used to the encounter the easier you'll find maintaining enochian and getting as much fire IV casts as possible. Losing enochian for a bit won't plummet your dps. What will plummet your dps a lot is losing gcds not casting anything.

I don't main BLM for dps but have practiced a lot so being i224 with i235 nidhogg ex weapon, doing the lv 60 rotation as best I can would put me around 1650s-1700s dps on the dummy for 4 minutes. However, doing the lv 50 rotation without using enochian, leylines, sharpcast, fire iv and blizzard iv will still get me around 1350-1430ish dps on the dummy for 4 minutes. It's not horribly low for losing enochian. You gotta keep casting.

    here is my rotation

    Virus > Ley lines > Raging Strikes > B3 > T3 > F3 > Enochain > F4 > Sharpcast > F4 > F1 > F4 > Convert > F4x2 > F3 > B3 > B4

    F3 > F4x2 > F1 > F4x2 > B3 > B4

    F3 > F4x3 > B3 > B4

    F3 > F4x2 > Swiftcast > F4

it's very adaptable for moving. let's say i have to move and miss a f4 depending on how much time is left i do f3 or b1 to b3
