Yep, I did forget about that when I posted - my bad.
To be fair, though, that doesn't hurt the point I was making, but rather supports it - "Playstyle" doesn't mean freedom from performance expectations. So thanks for the correction.

Yeah, I wasn't really correcting you. It was more the idea that the translation was 100% correct and that other people were using a mistranslation/paraphrase as justification for playing badly.
He did say he wanted group play to be more relaxing.
And you are correct, playstyle doesn't mean freedom from performance expectations. I will pretty much only group with friends now, when I would be helping noobs if it weren't for the fact that Healers don't want to be helped.
It's funny, I can speak English, and I can speak Japanese, but ask me to translate from one to the other? LOL it's really bloody hard. Otherwise I would have translated the whole thing.

So there will always be people that are blowing up something that isn't really a big deal to begin with. I dps as a healer, if I see a healer not dpsing..I don't care. It's not a big deal, but I forgot that a lot of people here think otherwise. Too many people nitpick if you ask me. If it's not a raid where there is a big dps check, then a healer dpsing or not shouldn't even be a major concern. But that's just my opinion. You can argue and cry about how they "suck" but in reality, they're just an average healer if they can manage to keep you alive. Anyways, I'm not about to get dragged into this pointless debate again.
Eh, the average of this game's players is pretty bad, to be completely honest.
Try to solo quest as a holy priest in vanilla WoW and you know the answer. I did back in 2006 ... till lvl 18 or 19 and switched back to warlock. It was awful.
Back in the Beta of ARR conjurer was also awful at solo questing, as nearly ever second auto attack of the mobs did interrupt the casts. Sometimes it felt like every auto attack did interrupt them.

Well, the reason healing classes have DPS abilities is because it would take forever to level 1-60 based purely on auto attack and your chocobo.
My view on this is pretty straight forward. If healers don't want to DPS, that's fine. It's their game, they can play how they want. I have enough patience, especially in DF to sit back and let the duty complete in it's own time. If you're in a rush and are angry that the healer isn't adding damage to the party, that's your problem, no one else's.
I'm quite happy to DPS and heal in fights, but I don't expect anyone do do anything outside their job role. Tanks tank, DPS spam buttons and healers heal. That's it. If each role sticks to those things, they are performing their job correctly, anything outside that is going above and beyond and is greatly appreciated when contributing to the damage on a boss or group of enemies.
So... it's an essential part of your job that uou can ignore because you get lazy? By that logic a tank could say... ehhh that healer isn't dying with two mobs on him, so I'll let him keep them.

You neglect that the only text in the game about what Healers are supposed to do, the Hall of the Novice, says to BOTH Heal and DPS.
That means "Healers Heal" isn't enough. When SE specifically puts text in the game to tell you how you're expected to play your class and then you choose to ignore it and do less than that, that's not performing your job correctly no matter what justification you have.

I've had other healers complain that I DPS a lot and make them do all the healing, except those tend to be the healers that cast Cure whenever the tank takes even a shred of damage. In my opinion, you could be putting that MP to good use; specifically, instead of topping off the tank every five seconds, you could be doing some damage.
That being said, if you're not comfortable stance dancing, don't DPS as much! It really depends on your play style. Nonetheless, I think every healer should consider at least some DPSing during those instances when everyone's not taking too much damage.
Yuup. Or even dps w.o clerics on, at least it's something. At least they are trying to be comfortable dpsing
