I try to be as uninsulting as possible (not always succeeding if I need to be fast at saying something) when reminding people of their stances etc. Generally does not go well
Except for paladins who forgot Shield Oath, they tend to be pretty good sports about it.
I jumped into ARF one day from the roulette. During the first pull (tank only pulled one pack) the healer started going on with "For the love of god pull more" (apparently having missed the memo about healers only getting to dictate the max sizes of pulls, and tanks choosing within those limits). Me and the bard immediately chime in with a shared note of "Look at his gear, that would not be wise" (good on the DRK for knowing his own limits) followed by "I would rather ask him to turn Darkside on."
Yeah he did not use that. His reasoning was "It's only needed for the bosses". Refused to use it because "It costs too many MP." Que all 3 of us explaining to him how 1) using and managing MP is the core gameplay of the class; 2)it deals more damage (speeds things up)/helps with aggro; 3) it actually is required for high level content; 4) how it would be kinda like if I stopped using Twin Snakes or keeping up Greased Lightning, or the bard dropped Minuet or DoTs.
His response was a simple "Shut up." Our comments were completely insult-free, just general notes on how DRK functions, but I suppose the raw amount of stuff may have been a bit much. And looking back at it, that "4)" may have been not the best choice of words. At this point I don't know how to take that reply of his. It was both unwarranted and warranted at the same time. :/
We did clear the place without deaths and at a reasonable pace, but I had to forego using any self buff cooldowns at all on trash, sitting at orange aggro the entire way through, with the bard occasionally pulling stuff off the tank while using cooldowns. Aside from this trouble the whole party did generally do well with mechanics and such, so on the whole it was a positive experience.
Now, I understand the MP management aspect of DRK is not for everyone. It's the reason why if I tank anything I use one of the other two. I'm just curious why someone would choose to play the MP management class if they don't want to manage MP. Aside from the usual edgelord reasons.
