I've said it pretty much since the beginning; The next new gathering class should be Shepard... The fact that I have to slaughter those cute little sheep for wool, when it should be entirely possible just to sheer them, irritates me... More so after the Ixali daily quests pretty much had a quest in which you get some sheers and use them on a mob... A Shepard class could essentially take the crappy drop rates out of farming various materials... Milk a Yak for Yak Milk, raid an Okeanis nest for their eggs... Much better than relying on those horrible drop rates...

My guess would be, due to the large amounts of DPS in game already, there will be a healer and a tank.

Samurai would be tank for sure because for some stupid reason sword= tank.

That's possible I suppose, but if you reread this:

It sounds as if new gatherers are still currently not set in stone and are only being considered so far. If he "almost" said how many jobs 4.0 will have then I'm guessing that's including the jobs they know they're releasing for sure.

I may be reading too much into the wording of the translation, but I get the feeling that any additions to DoL will be afterthoughts, especially if they are freely discussing them and not keeping them a big secret like DoW/M jobs.

I was only trying to put it as a possibility. In the end, nothing is confirmed at this point and we could also go completely crazy and get 6 jobs (6 poses, 2 for each book) but mind you that I REALLY doubt this is possible.

In the end, everything we interpret here is speculation and we might miss something very obvious in the event. Personally, it would be awesome to have a sword class that is NOT a tank (Ninja daggers don't count). If not, we have enough DPS classes tbh.

In either case, I don't care much about new combat classes (no matter the role) as they usually take 6+ month to work SOMEWHAT properly anyway. Gatherers though, I would LOVE dairy farming/herding/breeding! Bring it on! I have all others maxed already!

I'm the polar opposite - I have all but one combat job maxed on ONE character and then a few other characters with one or two combat jobs maxed each.
My cumulative gatherer level across all characters doesn't even reach 50 for one class >.>

My problem is that I prefer to not be in the face of the mobs, which obviously limits class choice. I also don't like the concept of bard and machinist so those are out too (couldn't stand bard longer than lvl 24).I have a few alts as well but got tired of the gating.
I recently finished getting DRK to 60 nd believe I will not level any other melee classes. I am therefore done and only have 3 more crafters to max.

Anyway, going OT I suppose.

I vote 1 gatherer + combat classes!

since yoshida keep under strick silence the information about new jobs, i doubt he will have said they think to add new gatherer for add one in the expansion.
