If it is a caring partner they would be willing to help you level and gear up. My partner created a alt on my server to be with me and I have been helping them level and do the MSQ, they are just about to complete the HW quests and start the Dragonsong war quests then we will work on unlocking everything and gearing them up.

I have been having a blast helping my partner level and gear up.

There are also people who enjoy helping others gear/level up. Personally, I don't care about levelling my own jobs, but I've helped others from 15 to 50 (pre-heavensward), even on a job I had already maxed. It was a lot of fun actually

Etc: Truth be told I've been on Balmung for 3 years now and have yet to find someone who wants to stick it out with me. Last time I had a "partner" ingame it was mainly RP driven but apparently people get bored easily these days. I've spent most of my time soloing stuff but I am in a rather nice FC full of funny and helpful people. I have alts on other servers but nothing above level 30.
