* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
No? That's the reason it got to be a runner up, I was more referring to say....
NIN/MNK gear with some metal boots
or
Just Nibblesnarf armor
or
Fantasy Revolver Ocelot
How about you read someone's entire post next time before jumping down their throat. I think all but the PSO2 armor are a fine selection of runner-ups. But most of the initial finalist designs were not tank gear.
It will come, but as a crafted gear and not as the contest winner
While this is a simplistic design with what seems to be rustic materials, the coat and marge mesh extremely well, and it looks very cool. We’d like to see a leatherworker and weaver create the materials, and then have an armorer put it all together!
Congratulations to the winner and all the runner ups!
I love this entry so much! I love its simplicity. I love its practicality. I love how it all comes together. Here's hoping it gets into the game as well.
And let's have a round of applause for everyone who entered the contest!
Official Short List of Entries
and while I can readily see why this entry did not win, I'd dearly love to have this little guy for a minion.

*sigh*
Even when I m aware, that any of my words will turned against me, I want to try to reach some clarification into this to end this discussion once it for all... .
Is my entry an PSO2-related armour?
No. During the creation process, my intention was to create a tank armor similiar to the existing Ironworks gear. I ve got my inspiration from armor-designs from FFXIV and other games (except PSO2). But it was never intended to be some kind of PSO2-armor. During the german livestream many people named my design as a an armor from Sword Art Online, Zone of the Enders or Hyper Dimension Neptunia. I m not mad or anything for calling my armor "PSO2" or "Neptunia", I m just curious why people make that reference and I would like to see those armors : ) . I guess its my anime-like drawing style and not the armor itself, who knows?
If I really tried to make some kind of PSO2-like armor, it would be turned out as to futuristic for FFXIV. Thats why I ve rather decided to take parts/designs from the Ironworks gear and the fancy holograms from the augmented healer/tank gear.
Do I know PSO2?
Yes I do. I like MMORPGs and I like science fiction. If you read my posts refering to PSO2 (like the PSO2 cross over event), its not a secret, that I m a huge fan of it. I played it from the release until FFXIV came out. After that, I never played it again (because japanese captchas are hell! O_O). I still love the PSO-series, especially the original series on Dreamcast and its no wonder, that my personal preferences in armor designs are unintentionally a bit influenced by it. But as far as I know, there is no existing PSO2 armor which comes close to my design. But if there is one, I would like to see it ^^.
Did I use a PSO2-picture?
Yes I did. But only for using it by making my own template which I can use for the contest and the next upcoming contests. Instead of recreate every pose for each design, I can easily use it for different design studies. I even shared my template in the german FFXIV board 2 months ago, because I want to make it easier to other people participating into the contest.
Why did I say my entry have nothing to do with PSO2?
When I said, that my entry have NOTHING to do with the PSO-series, I m only refering to the DESIGN. This contest is all about designing a tank armour. The pose is absolutely irrelavant. Maybe I should say, that my template was based on this one picture. But I never wanted to start a huge discussion about that, especially because some people already stated, that even the winning entry (which is still awesome) is nothing more than a copy or recolor of an exisisting armor. Even when my poses are based on a PSO2-related picture and even when I m a fan of PSO2, it still doesnt matter at all. It doesnt changes my opinions and it doesnt changes my design. But unfortuneately, we now have that one discussion I wanted to avoid -_-'
Is there more?
Yes! There is a big difference between "not understanding" and "making fun about someone". In fact, FainMabuja and Schneehase are from the same german FFXIV-board, like me. And its also known, that we have some dissensions before.
Another thing is: when I m looking for some PSO2 pictures on google, I just found many ingame screenshots and only a handfull concept arts. But when I m looking for "PSO2 concept arts" I found that one picture under tons of other concept arts. That means, you have to search specifically for it. Additionally, there is talking about "lack of creativity", just out of nowhere. I m still wondering, what they expect to achieve by that? : /
Nevertheless, I will participate in the next contests! I want to encourage other artists to do the same, no matter what other people say!
So, it took me about 2 hours to write this. I hope we can end this "discussion" now. Otherwise, you can contact me on Shiva ; )
