About the EU campaign for maid outfit and fat chocobo

I had a feeling, & I think I may have even posted, that they were going to make the rest of the EU (as in EU accounts) offers locked to certain countries. It appears that this is exactly what they've done by making the Aus/NZ one only available there & the GameStop one being an in store purchase.

Basically, if you've missed out on one of the magazines in the UK then you're already screwed. I can't see the other offers being global but I'd love to be wrong for the sake of those who missed out.

As someone from Luxembourg I have to drive to France to buy a overpriced Magazine, that is IF I can find one ofc ! or drive to Brussels and buy whatever Meltdown Bar sells for 24€ !

Why can't we just buy them in the mog store ??

It's probably part of their agreement with the partners they're dealing with, each retailer being promised exclusivity within a particular region. If company A is told they'd have exclusive rights to this promotion in a particular country, but then company B can give out codes worldwide, SE would be in breach of their agreement with company A (assuming such a clause exists in their agreements, which seems likely based on how these promotions have been set up).

Unfortunately, that pattern screws over both the players in the country with the worst promotion by far, and even more so the players who live in countries that don't even get a promotion.

Attention chocobo seekers, this is important information, if you didn't already know this.

I recently recieved information on what to do about the photographs for the chocobo;


"Apologies for the delay in getting back to you regarding this.

The pictures will not be used for any purpose other than to verify that you do have all three code cards and are thus eligible for the promotion. We won't be printing them in the magazine or using them for any other purpose.

I think it would be safest to not modify the photo in any way as that could lead to us not being able to verify that it is a qualifying photo. And we will need to be able to see the promotional codes so you shouldn't black those out.

On a separate note, if you do want to get creative and potentially get printed in the magazine, you're always very welcome to send in whatever pictures or photos you like to this address for our Fanbase page! Each month we print the best pictures and letters we get in that section. But that should definitely be kept separate from your photos for getting your chocobo!"

I normally don't buy there, but it's about a 5 min walk from my house AND I could buy other games (something I'd do anyway, so it would be like the NA amazon promotion to me) to get the code °-°

I'd really, really like an official statement on the following aspects:

- Is this the only time that the items in question will be available?
- Why are some of the methods of acquisition so obscure?
- Why could people from all over Europe make use of the United Kingdom's campaign yet the Australian and other European specific campaigns are strictly limited to their respective countries?
- Why did Japanese and North American players have a much more well thought out and efficient, easily accessible campaign?

Most of Sweden got shafted since Gamestop is not available to most of us (poor Norrland players). Having it restricted to a chain that only provides in-store shopping is quite insulting to those that cannot drive over half the country to find one. For me, the travel time would "only" be about over an hour, but that is still quite an inconvenient journey for someone who is disabled. Plus, there is no info about what purchases make you eligible for the code, so there is currently no way to plan purchases. And their stock and selection is very, very poor. I only found one game I would like, but there is no price listed and I will have to travel to another town to get it!

I wonder if Brexit screwed up SE's options for the UK, though.

I doubt it. Even before that happened we had UK players - and certain other countries - charged much much for the Heavensward Collector's Edition compared to the price in other regions. Blizzard also hiked up the price of the monthly WoW subscription specifically for UK players not too long ago. So it's unfortunate but not uncommon for UK customers in particular to get screwed over. It may not even be intentional but...honestly it's one of those situations where clear and concise communication is sorely needed.
