Another possible route is to have them be a part of Garlemald's currently invading forces. Perhaps the resistance of Ala Mhigo, the Domans, or the WoL's efforts help them to free themselves.

Maybe... due to Garlemald invading forces, they actualy find the land of Vieras and conquer it, making the Vieras spread through the realm to look for a home, just to survive.

They already did that for the Au Ra. I rather not have the backstories recycled now.

I'd rather much want a bangaa, esper, l'cie or vanu not another boring rabbit race that look pretty much like the miqote, we have enough mexicat running around, make it unique and interesting, not a simple copy-paste of a previous race.

Yep, but they tend to turn into crystal when the accomplished there quest or monster if they fail, we could get 2 clans that way, one with crystal feature representing those who made it but got awoken for some reason (ok that guy's ugly but sure we can get something as pretty and cute as SE seem to like their races)

and one with monster ones those who failed but did not turn completely for some reason

So, a similar look to Siren's crystal zombies, but less dead.

My concern with that is the crystaline bits may dip into the same base appearance as Au Ra scales and horns, with the protrusions and skin patches being of crystal instead, even if the had wildly different body builds. That's basically the same issue as Miqo'te and Viera being too samey, even though Miqo'te are petite and athletic, and Viera are towering and lithe.

I think for it to work, we'd need to go even further, almost into Cie'th/golum territory. ALL crystal. Different crystalline/stone patterns for each clan.

Can be sure it won't happen sadly because people don't want golum type race but instead cute little humans with features so if they add a l'Cie race you can be sure it will be Aura based :/

Some tiny problems with that and well rather large one.

They turn to crystal once their task is complete, so by this standard they should be turning to crystal every main story arc they complete. The ones who fail should become crystal husks incapable of even contemplating being an adventurer. You also need Fal'Cie to create and brand them but the WoL is already in a covernant with Hydaelyn. She should techincally hand out a brand to all of us if that is was the case.

The major problem I find with it is that they have a time limit to complete their task, it's not something that fits well with an MMO environment imo.
