He probably means Kirin, which you only get after getting all the skittle ponies. The devs did talk about making the skittle ponies and Odin horse being able to fly, but at a much later date.

Per the live letter at E3 - Sleipnir is on the list for a flying upgrade. I dont see the summary posted on the OF - but here is a news summary

You paid $ for a ground based mount that was never promised to fly. You literally got what you paid for. Please explain how this is unfair?
You know what is unfair? Free upgrades which -will- incur a financial burden of some kind on the company. The time that is spent on making him fly could be spend on making other - 'free' mounts fly or other content.
No doubt he will fly at some stage, but quit trying to act like you're owed something. You're trying to selfishly add value to your purchase. You did not purchase flying. You are not entitled to it.
What you do get? Is what you were given. And that's a ground mount.

Oh, I'm sorry. I've seen this type of thread so many times, I forgot my manners.
Does anyone else see Odin flying in the Black Shroud? I sure don't. Are you all completely devoid of logic and just filled with this sense of entitlement where you slap some lore onto Odin which doesn't really hold value because as far as I can tell Odin isn't flying in Eorzea...

I know your pain OP, I also hate when I buy a new car and it doesn't fly![]()
Am I really the only person who played a Final Fantasy outside of XIV and knows that Sleipnir, in this universe, flies? Really?
This entire thread

To be fair, it does seem rather strange that Slepnir wouldn't have been early on the list for getting flight. Definitely should've been ahead of the adamantoise.
As we know it's on the list.
Where it falls on the list sometimes depends on supply and demand, it also depends on if the devs have a good idea how to do it. It might've been high on the list and what they made didn't look right so they scrapped it and worked on something else.
