Yeah frankly I'd prefer it not be that either..lol vet rewards are supposed to be exclusive stuff more or less, not recolors so...yeah I wouldn't mind another MGP grind or something..I have so damn much now to not use.
Friend/recruitment code for special items and things (use before paying first sub) RACN78W5 (updated) info on items here http://sqex.to/Cz9 code is entered via the mogstation.
I'm not sure I follow. Whny do they lose value? Their value is a purely personal feeling, whether they clog your Armoire or are in your glamors. The value certainly doesn't decrease, if anything over time as feer and fewer people remain sub'd consistently and player churn takes it's toll, these rewards become more valuable becuase they become rarer in the wild. Putting these rewards in the Mogstation would break the loyalty reward system, personally I would be offended if these items were sold on the Mogstation.
The value of these things, as with any rare item, varies inversely with the scarcity of the item.

I have earned 2 mil+ mgp and still do not have fenrir.
They probably will announce new veteran rewards in the upcoming live letter.
Id be ok with them putting the items in the Mog Station... for exactly the same price as the sub adds up to! Anyone do the math for Zidanes outfit?

I did the math a few pages back (in £ which is how I pay)
£184 - Strife outfit,
£215 - Wild Rose outfit
£275 - Tantalus outfit
prices are based on an entry subscription (or a standard subscription in a block of 180 days) with no retainers
Edit: US prices -
$312 - Strife outfit,
$364 - Wild Rose outfit
$468 - Tantalus outfit

How much I spend on the game for sub is not usually on my mind when thinking about veteran rewards, cause I don't sit around and be like well this outfit cost me X amount of dollars. Now for cash shop items that when I think of how much it could cost me to get. Veteran rewards are just bonus item for continuing to pay my sub.
I think a large part of people's complaints would likely be resolved by lifting the cap on the number of days of sub allowed to be added at a time. The current cap of 180 does limit someone willing to pay ahead and, thus, be given the rewards "early".

Zidane is one of my favourite designs in FF.
SE knows how much we all love glamour so of course they will attempt
to nickle and dime it.
EDIT: Can they start making female outfits soon too? I would like Aerith's!

I'd rather have Rinoa's clothes over Aerith's any day, but I half expect FFVIII vet stuff to be the jewelry Squall and Rini wore as much as a full costume. Give me both, and I'll be thrilled!
I'm really suprised they don't follow the most basic example from one of the oldest MMO's out there.
Ultima Online had a vet reward program as well but it worked generously. Once you hit a milestone you could select from all the available rewards, of course some were more desirable than others (Dye vats and whatnot) it gave the players some agency in the rewards they got for their subscription and the longer you played the more rewards you got so the more choices you got to make.
I think now that the loyalty program is starting to grow some insurmountable legs for new players a system like this would be pretty awesome.
Hell here is an image of it. Archaic but it had some nice choices.
