What is the point of grinding Red Scrip?

I checked the script related npc's.
It seems that there isn't much you can buy with red scrip.
The red scrip gear has fewer stats than HQ ilevel 170 gear.
Moreover, each one of the offhand tools costs 26 red Rowena's Token.
That's 3 weeks.

Tier 4 Materia's are much cheaper to buy than crafting 50 red scrips.

Is red scrip's only use to upgrade ilevel 180 blue scrip gear to ilevel 200 red scrip gear?

If materia IV are cheaper than a free craft on your server you're damn lucky !

On my case
Materia IV are between 30k and 50k depending on which one you want
When red script is only making retainer farm when i'm doing something else

Then macro craft
Since lv60 no star doesn't require rotation

The mat used to get 50 red scrip is worth more than 30~50k though X)

I have been collecting RCS and getting the empty Soul of the Crafter item. This item allows you to change specializations. This is allowing me to craft all of my i190/i195 gear myself rather than making some and buying the rest from someone else.

That's the "main" use for RCS right now that I can think of. Although T4 Materia are another viable option.

As for opportunity cost, that depends upon how quickly your stuff moves. If you think that 4 adamantite nuggets, 2 titanium ingots, etc. for an Adamantite greatsword are collectively worth more than one T4 crafting Materia, you still run afoul of actually trying to get those materials sold (with the MB penalty "tax") and then finding that Materia on the board. Some of those should sell rather well (like the Adamantite). Others, not so much.

I dunno for crafting, cuz it costs resources. But in gathering I gather Red scripts to easily get blue scripts for my anima. 1 red script = 4 blue scripts

Everyone say that but even with 2 retainer you can have 75% of all comp

If you aim for ALC which is some of the easiest one (only 2 books available for Red script)
You only need miner and DoW/M to gather everything

Then craft

The only comp i buy from MB is zêta from ALC because it's à pain to craft and maps give a tons of them and people sell them cheap

Red scrips are for Soul of the Crafter or converting to Blue scrips for i180 crafting gear desynth or Relic weapon.

Either venture coins or opportunity cost for other material that retainers can bring.

But I plan to craft ironworks.
Only if we were allowed to buy master recipes with tokens somehow...

The unused soul itself is not unique, so you can keep a pile around. Once I upgrade all my main hands, I'm going to start hoarding souls in preparation for 3.4 (I made all my own ironworks gear).
