I loved every single song in every single zone in FFXI. However, in FFXIV I feel all of the music is over the top fantasy and I don't like it that much.

a huge fan of nobuo's music.
wow, that version of suteki da ne is blowing me away. i never knew what the lyrics were til i heard this english version. makes it even more incredible. wow. thanks so much for sharing that!I only like the in-game music of the FF series, its well composed and doesn't sound all cheaply thrown together on a $20 Casio keyboard. Its obviously loved if they have an orchestra going on tour every year playing the top tiered song of all the FF series.
I went to a wedding in September to see two of my friends from XI get married, when they had their first dance as a married couple they danced to this song from FFX: http://store.ffdistantworlds.com/tra...inal-fantasy-x. I loved it so much I took the CD they gave to the DJ for the event lol.
Music makes the game imo. I mean fighting Sephiroth just wouldn't be the same without "One Winged Angel" playing in the background. I happen to be in love with these XIV pieces as well as other video game pieces. When I hear a great song I can't help but think "Ok, now I HAVE to find this sheet music and play it on my flute!" and I think that's what good music should do; make one either want to play it themselves or play it continuously to enjoy.

I couldn't agree more, in FFXI when I first did ToAU 44 (final fight) I was blown away at how epic that music was, it put me in a mood where my character took a life of his own and it felt like a fight to the death.Music makes the game imo. Sorry for the double, triple posts but when a topic I can get into is here I lose control.

I always loved Nobou's music, FFXIV is defiantly not a standard mmo score much more FFish.
Only thing I question is if the songs really fit the areas 100% sorta like Thanala I love that piece but it does not really scream desert wasteland. I think in alot of areas the music fit the scenery better in XI.
I feel overall the ffxiv OST surpasses FFXI's in terms of musical composition though, but FFXI on a song to song bases has a few that just beat out everything in the FFXIV track. FFXIV OST has about 3 fold the tracks and I only dislike a 3-4 of them, FFXI has a 1/3 of the tracks and I love 6-8 tracks but are very MEH about the rest.
For those who have not listened to the whole OST they should go on youtube and do it, I think half the music hate is because the Uldah Region music is only good so long, and I think some people have not left that zone in about 3 months alot do not even know there are over 70 tracks in the XIV OST. And make sure to listen to the Distance Worlds Version of some of the XIV songs they are really good.
i like all FFXIV musiv EXCEPT Ul'dah, Gridania, and The Black Shroud. Limsa, La Nocea, Coerthas, and Mor Dhona have the best. Thanalan is ok.. Ul'dah and The Black Shroud music just gets annoying after a few minutes
I really agree with Xatsh. The music is very well put together it is just that the music is horribly fitting for each area and takes away from it. I was actually talking about this to my friends in vent recently. When I am in Thanalan and listening to the music I just feel like I should seeing something amazing looking, but then I realize there is nothing that fits the music at all! I am hoping when the restructuring of areas happens the music will be more fitting.
