Currently the Feast is a joke because of the matchup system, it basically falls to whoever gets the less newbies in their PT wins. This needs to stop, I'm not here to carry anyone or suffer their incompetence, I'm here to have fun and try to improve with and against people of my level, and reach the ranking I'm aiming for asap. Currently is just frustration and stress.
If you are to keep this matchup system, fine, but you need to prepare your players for pvp, we are all expecting the best from our teamates, people who have never pvp'd, who don't know they have pvp abilties, who show up undergeared, or with the wrong accessories must not be allowed to be paired with higher ranked players. Hell I'd even take matchups with ranked people vs unranked/newbies over what we have now, because at least steamrolling people is stress free.
1. Warn players who step into the Feast that they are expected to know the basics of pvp, mostly their pvp skills. A simple message to new pvp players, telling them they have pvp skills and that they need to use these would be cool. I suppose there's actually a mini guide that pops for new players, but a reminder should pop EVERYTIME for people who have no points assigned to their pvp skills. Or maybe (might be hard to do) force them to have the actions on a bar if they are to queue for pvp.
2. Players should need to have a minimum of frontline matches played, not many, maybe 5, but at least they wouldn't be completely ignorant of pvp. Ideally we should have an unranked 4 vs 4 Feast mode, and the requirement would be to have at least 5 matches played in that, before being able to step into ranked. Also that would be a filter for people who just one time to see if they like The Feast, and just mess up others rankings.
3. Have a gear requirement, of at least lvl 150 for each piece of gear. I could be even more tyrannical about that and ask that we'd be forced to use our main stats only for accessories, but pvp gear choice is also a good part of the current pvp so I don't really see a solution to that. Let's say when I see a NIN with full VIT accessories I'm not hoping for much from them.
4. Participants need to have all their job quests unlocked...
5. When someone DCs or leaves the match, the match should immediately be ended and be a draw. Sometimes people take a while to get booted in case of DC, maybe after a 30 sec immobility/iddling the person should be kicked automatically.
On another note, it would be EXTREMELY nice to have a recap chart of pvp actions specifities. Maybe on the Lodestone? I'm talking about things such as the 15 yalms range for BRD/MCH, that are burried deep in past patch notes.
