EQ servers are still up does that make it a winning formula? ps2 is only reason ffxi stayed as popular as it did. but still it lost over 90% of its original population. not tryin to make this a ffxi ver another game post but i disagree. players who enjoyed the game played it as for the same can be sayed bout ffxiv. those who didnt quit. witch was alot of people. SE need to rethink its veiw on ps3 and make this game keyboard and mouse based. and let the ps3 players deal wit the slow gameplay.

FFXIV bigest issue is that they are not using any good new idea, they using all the old flawed ideas that made so many peeps quit ffxi. they seriously need to steal some ideas from their comp. and alow addons so the players can help make the game better.

FFXI was not always a "winning formula." it was a very messy game when it first came out in japan- Not to the same degree as FFXIV, but still, it took a few years before it reached its peak.

Stop posting "FFXI was perfect, FFXIV is fail." FFXI was/is not perfect. Great, yes, but it still has its flaws. The same is and will be true of FFXIV.

Just stating a fact- and what i wrote were facts, not opinions. The new staff specifically stated "We are not going to charge monthly fees until we get the game into a state worthy of the Final Fantasy name.".

In other words, the very thing that the original poster is asking them to do is already in progress.

And since you seem to be talking to me, no, I should not just stick with XI, because it's not going anywhere with the PS2 attached to it like a ball and chain.

If you payed any attention to the forum thread you commented on you would see that I didn't complain about things that were in the past, I addressed issues from patch 1.19 and beyond.

everyone wants to see the game done right, so they're throwing their 2 cents in. There's nothing wrong with what the OP's saying. Get the stick outta your bum, Alhanelem.

I have no stick up my bum, I want everything to turn out right just like everyone else. But people need to have a little more faith and a little less negativity, rudeness and facetiousness. You don't need to tell them to fix the game so it lives up to its brand name, they are already trying to do that. Instead, be constructive about how they can polish things up going forward. You are also acting like they haven't done much of anything to improve the quality of the game yet, and that's a load of crap because they have improved things drastically (though there is still much to do).

So in short, yes, there is something wrong with what the OP is saying- Not so much intentions, though, as much as wording and tone. Everyone has their own idea as to what will make this game be worthy of being called final fantasy. Personally I still hold faith that the revamped team has a good idea of what they need to do to make that happen.

If it were not for that first sentence, I might not have even commented on the post. But I may as well address one thing that bugged me:

? I must be in the wrong universe or something, because materia doesn't suddenly enable you to have the best gear in the game by "spamming enter while watching a movie." Do you think every player has such unlimited resources at their disposal that there is no economic cost for them to blow up gear left and right in an attempt to maximize it? Do you realize how much you can improve gear with just one materia? People will still have to do some kind of work more than "spam enter" to collect the resources and gear to keep reattempting after blowing gear up from materia failure. You were drastically oversimplifying the process. Anyone can make an argument if they totally transform something by making it "simpler" til it sounds the way they want.

It really doesn't, anyone who's been dabbling in Materia can tell you this. It requires more work than just hopping into the raid contents. Not only that but it's a high fail rate to get said "best gear".
