But yes, I do agree that SE should start assigning unique-related BGM to special mounts on release as well.

This is another level of laziness. All they did to this mount was to just copy paste the texture they already had into the Ahriman mount then. Thats 10 minutes of work... 9 of which is the texture copypaste process.

Normally I'm not appriciate the re-skin but I like the head because it has no legs..
Also agreed on mount!'s bgm though.
I don't expect it to be edda's fight bgm but at least it shouldn't be ARR mount bgm eithe.

I mean the Bennu is a reskin of the Zu mount, The Red Fenrir will be a reskin of the Fenrir why are you people not surprised? I personally like the mount it's interesting looking the most unique mount i've seen so far is the Fat Moogle and it's badass. I guess SE wants to keep the cool mounts to the Mog Station and the reskins/tedious ones to get through their new content that is tedious to begin with.

I still want that red Fenrir whenever it gets released..but yeah sadly they missed a big chance with this one all the same lol

Unicorn, Nightmare, Aithon, Enbarr, Boreas, Gullfaxi, Xanthos, Markab, Pegasus, Flame Warsteed, Storm Warsteed and Serpent Warsteed are all the same model just reskinned.
Fat Chocobo, Parade Chocobo and Original Fat Chocobo (the white one)
Coeurl and War Panther
Twintania, Wyvern, Zu and Bennu are also all the same model
Logistics System and Aerodynamics System...

and the List goes on with Primal Birds, Chocobos, Magitek Armors, the Gobbue...


to the part of defending it:
i rather get a reskinned mount than no mount at all. i pay around 13€ a month, i have no idea how much i can expect to get for that money, but i think i get a lot. when i would pay more then i would complain about the reskins.

another story is indeed the Palace of the Dead Mount because it is a reskin from a mount wich is not free available in the game. it is part of the rewards for paying the subscription for a while. okay, you get it right at the beginning, but that is not the point. The point is i got a reward for being a long time customer and now everyone can get not the same - but a very similiar mount who is NOT a long time customer.

i feel betrayed for any stuff i payed extra money for and are now reskinned for free in the game.
examples are the Coeurl and Fat Chocobo. I payed extra for the collectors edition and now you can get the War Panther and the Parade Chocobo - wich are just reskins - for free in the game. Same with the Twintania mount. Okay, someone other payed for it, but SE got money for it. And then they put a reskin, the Wyvern, for free into the game.

The ponies are fair enough, they're reskins but they all have different special effects, different colours and different music so they're worth having each one. This however is simply a reskin and that's it.

I've noticed this too with every other enemy (Gobbue and Yeti, Kobold and Boogie Man to add couple), but this is something done in nearly ALL other jrps. I've played Tales of, Valkyrie Profile, and Star Ocean using reskins and palette-swaps with their enemies, too. It seems to be a "tradition" in making jrpgs, than something to be angry with FFXIV about specifically. What I will say about the mount, however, is that it's unfinished. Not only is it just the Tam Tara Deepcroft (HM) boss, but there's barely any color to it. I haven't unlocked it yet, but if it's really using old mount music too, then that's another disappointment.

I got it and was disappointed, should have got 10 materia instead.

Literally was 10 minutes of work, model and texture already exist from tam hard mode, would have taken another minute to change the music.

It really sucks it doesn't have the music, reskins i can deal with but they should know by now we love music so make it common to have unique music for them surely it's not that resource intensive.
