Better yet, just rotate some GMs during the duration of the event, so they ban trolls right in the spot, that would be amazing and satisfactory.

I did this quest last night on Diabolos. People must be really nice on my server. You only had to mention it once to people that were one shotting that they are doing it wrong and guess what? They listened, they changed their plan of attack, and they got it done. Ran to go do it on my alt this morning. People casually taking turns doing it. They really do need a GM just jailing trolls on those servers that have totally a-holes on them.

So why should GMs should be shuffled into the event just for trolls there, but not at all times elsewhere?

Because it would be much funnier. I would even use some kind of world-shout command to call by nickname and declare sentence to the temporarily banned players.
