It seems they'll be also at the Gamecom this month, perhaps that's a good time for some of us to subtly grill the staff there for information and such about this all.

True enough.I really don't think that they care about how many people were able to get their rewards, GM magazine got sold out and that's the goal of the whole promotional thing.
So writing how many stores you visited and how many people you asked just proves they can do whatever they like and people will still pay.
Only way to teach them would be, if no one bought the magazine, but this obviously isn't our case.
if you want me you'll find me in the eye of the storm
RNG and FATEs now IRL too!Yesterday, I spent from 9am until after 4pm in the city (York) where I live, trying to find places that stocked GamesMaster magazine. I went to the following retailers, TESCO, ASDA, Morrison’s, Sainsburry’s across the city, both the big major supermarkets and the smaller direct stores and not one of them had stocked GamesMaster magazine for a while. I double checked with as many staff as I could to see if it was just a one-time thing or otherwise and they all said similar things; it just doesn’t get that much interest.
Please look forward to it.
Honestly, I'm genuinely curious as to why they chose a print magazine for this.
Were any other avenues even explored? Here in the UK at least, there's GAME, which is still a high street name and still commands a fair amount of footfall daily. Was a campaign similar to the Amazon deal for those just not viable?
What about UK-based sites such as Zavvi or Green Man Gaming? Or hell, even a Humble Bundle promotion? I don't know, I'm just spitballing; it's just really odd to me - even now - that the best they could possibly come up with was a dying medium.
Not long to go now before this thread is flooded again because on the off chance someone picked up the first issue, they may miss out on the second that's coming out soon, and there goes their mount!
Considering how little supply there is and how many people have realised that, I bet a lot more people will be hunting it down to buy multiple copies to sell the codes later on.
I don't think that will be a big issue with the 2nd one, but the issue that contains the maid/butler will be the biggest suffer of this
The maid and butler outfits are the most popular part of the individual rewards, but yazpanda is right about how the scarcity problem is exacerbated by the requirement to get all three to qualify for the mount. Miss out on any one of them and no fat white chocobo for you.![]()
I still think the biggest problem will be the third issue (I think), where the maid and butler outfit will definitely cause a massive lack of copies, and those who bought extra will definitely sell them on PF for either real money or gil. High demand but low supplies will always bring the "most creative" ways for profit afterall (the housing fiasco is another good example)
And while the amazon thing could have the same issue, It was more convenient to spend 20 bucks there instead on a stranger that might have a bogus code..."sigh" I wish we would get a response but how long has it been now? Nearly a month?
I suppose we'll never know since companies rarely admit to their mistakes and if they do it's laced with honeyed words for the sake of PR. As a collector I really want the items to add to my collection - but I fear I'll be forced to miss out on them unless the other EU promotions are more easily accessible. Splitting it into three parts is just such an utterly baffling thing to do. Neither NA or Japanese players had to endure that. I just hope this issue is acknowledged in the next Live Letter because if it isn't then that will simply give the impression that EU players are a low priority.
I do believe that is a ban-able offense.I still think the biggest problem will be the third issue (I think), where the maid and butler outfit will definitely cause a massive lack of copies, and those who bought extra will definitely sell them on PF for either real money or gil.
