    Why on earth would any healer, all of which are squishy mages, be in melee range when literally every skill we have affords us PLENTY of room to stay out of danger while keeping everyone else in danger alive?

    As you kind of pointed out, the only time I need to get up my tank's butt outside of the obvious dodging of attacks with range or stacking mechanics is when someone (tank or myself) derp and I need to get them back on a mob I have aggro for.

    There is zero benefit to standing right in the thick of combat as a healer.

    But in the end healer got a huge healing ability
    That DD cannot emulate

    Both are équivalent

    But a tanking DD won't last long without healer
    While a healer alone can last for a bit using appropriate healing and timing
    > Neither of them would survive in case of tank buster anyway

    Okay, but that's irrelevant. No ones asking about tanking DDs or individual survivability.

    It's about practicality. A healer cannot be within melee range of all party members at all times.

    Take Nidhogg, for example. His hitbox is so large that the main tank is quite a distance away from the rest of the group. You can't expect a healer to run back and forth to heal both sides (not to mention Nidhoogs fire breath starts from the center of his hitbox so you'd likely get cleaved)

    Or mechanics like Ifrit EX/A7S where the healer is forced away from the group due to exploding AOE.
