Fates can be fun if they just change how they do it. The one with the cyclops pounding while we had to run in and gather was a personal favorite but it seems like they want us to be mindless killing machines when it comes to fates or events.

Haha, I kept getting hit in the shockwave on that FATE. But yes, it was a fun one. More FATEs like that one, or ones that are more like GATEs, would be a welcome change for events. If the Dev team needs some ideas, they should look at a game called Ben & Ed. They might be able to pull some neat ideas from that.
Yes please, more fun events less long mindless grinding. It seems that SE still needs to find the middle road for their events. Either they are fun but way to short or they are long horrible grinds like this Yokai Event. (Sad that a marketing event still has much more content and prices than our own events..even though I hate this fate grind..) I remember a winter event in one free to play game where we got a toy gun from a NPC and had to shot snowballs at snowmen that spawned in the towns. It was so much fun. You had to grind to get the top prices but you still could get some nice other prices too with less grinding. Something like that would be nice in FF14 too. People could get emotes and things like that from just doing the event one time and for those that have more time on their hand they could make a small grind for more prices. (Just like that easter event in a way just a little longer)

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
I don't mind events that are based on fates (old, new or even seasonal), one thing I hate so are events like the ladies day. Having to do 1 - 5 tasks a day and mostly it's running to NPC A and B is not something I personally enjoy. Same for the gold saucer, and I hope we do not have events that are implemented there to keep the dead content alive.

The issue with the Easter event is there were not a lot of rewards to get in the first place... that only had the music scroll, a housing item and then the barding which you got from the quest anyways. This event has 13 minions and 13 weapons to get.
♥ Baby, tell me, what's your motive? ♥

I don't mind shorter events so long as they're entertaining.
My favourites from this year so far were the Valentine's day fortune telling event (spent an hour or two with my FC friends getting fortunes for all of our characters and alts) and the Gold Saucer mystery event.
The Yo-Kai event will certainly take me longer to complete than either of those two but I'm not having any fun doing it. FATEs bore me. All of my classes are at 60 so I'm not even getting any exp from it. They didn't add any new FATEs to the game so I'm stuck grinding the same ones I already did years ago for Atmas.
I would much prefer shorter events with new content or at least grinds based on new content like mini games for future events. And please no more RNG.

If you're not going to make new and interesting content for your events (or not even at the least make new FATEs), how about not making an event that requires grinding hundreds of regular FATEs for everything? I hadn't seen Yo-Kai before, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that this event didn't generate interest in it for me; it did the opposite, in fact, and I now actively want nothing to do with it.
I enjoyed the Easter event, it was fun. I too want less RNG in my event, if possible, less RNG in the game at all.
I dunno. I know a few people that skipped the easter even despite how short and interesting it was because the mini games frustrated them.
And there are going to be people who get tired/bored/frustrated of events that are the same FATE grinds some of us have been doing since 2.0 (an they seem, at the very least, to be more vocal).
