I agree that something should be done about names. Once I recognize a player (by either playing with them or playing against them), I'll tell my team exactly how to handle that person. It's really not fair for them in a solo queue. I kind of like that we can tell who people are based on their gear/appearance, so you CAN recognize someone as soon as you see them... but you shouldn't be able to do that a moment before. I wouldn't mind if they went back to the default job names. At the current moment, I try to commit the names to memory in the beginning before the match even starts so I know who to CC, who to focus, etc... even outside of typical numbering systems.
This is a legitimate problem. If I recognize a healer cause of his name and know he's bad well imma ride that poor bastard into the ground fk his dps. It also does work the other way though as I've seen the same ppl focus me relentlessly even when I have no more medals as a DRG (such an illogical fixation i can only assume its because they recognize my name and either dont like me or see me as too much of a threat to let live).
Rofl at the ride healer part! But ya...am sure at some point in his basketball career, Mr. Jordan wished he coulda changed his identity to a non-black dood named Stan McWinkles so as to be unpredictable once more too. /shrug...tis the price of fame lol. When ya think about it, it forces a new element of tacticalness into the matches. I myself have stayed on opponents with 0 medals simply becuase I knew the threat they posed left unchallenged. One has to factor such things into ones strat now..which Im guessing is why they present the names at start to begin with. Good thing is, works both ways. Found out a certain tank was going for me, regardless of buffs or not (as melee and ranged) and built a quick strat around it, and sure enough.
While I miss the job titles 100% for quicker targetting purposes (the option to switch back to em in text adjustment for ps4 at least does nothing) I get the sense the devs wanted to establish a bit of a closer knit community with recurring names lol. Guess it really is a double edged sword though when you see that one (blm who REFUSES to break 10k in a 5 minute match and whose name I am THIS close to typing) guy on your team..it can get a bit demoralizing lol. Alas...pvp is as cruel and merciless as she is exciting and beautiful.

I don't think playing anonymously can be resolved simply by masking a name. Sure making John Doe -> Warrior adds a very short term (seconds once you see the enemy team) mystery to who you're playing, but once you're in the arena, you can recognize armor, race etc. Knowing who is good and who is bad also adds an extra layer of depth to how you tackle a match.
The rating system on the other hand shouldn't put your whole team at a disadvantage because you are one of the only Gold ranked players (in this case, the only?) on the datacenter. To 'balance' the teams giving the gold player an unranked is ridiculous. At bronze it's acceptable, but silver+ should always try and match with at lowest a bronze.
Just wait until more people are gold since the system prioritize now gold, platin and diamond people together. Tbh most of the time I can tell people by seeing their glamour cause its always the same so no need to make names disappear.

Just the way it is man, especially when not everybody played on the first day, other good players are starting to level up, so here I am with players stacking accuracy while the other team is full of people in the top 100/10.

edit: I forgot to add a special breed of tank that has multiple pieces with parry, good times

Why was this thread resurrected lol? I saw my post earlier and was like wtf i dont remember writing that recently, its been so many months now. I still would rather the names be removed though, we see who we play at the end of the match or if we recognize them from their gear, play style, or the /wave emote. That's enough imo.

I swear this is one of the reasons there are more lala in the top ranks than any other race. The godforsakken little bastards are so tiny, its udderly impossible to identify em w/o the names, and the rest of the time, your eye naturally focuses on bigger target images. No. No No No. You keep those damn names up there RIGHT where they are.
I believe there is something to this, though more for Frontlines as opposed to Feast. In Frontlines I've taken advantage of my maximum compact size (made my lala as small as possible) in 72 man's and find I'm often ignored until I achieve battle high/fever except for the occasional few people that identify me by glamour and relentlessly attack me. Back when I was Au'ra for about 2 months I was drawing alot more unwanted attention.
