Samurai HAS to be male. race doesnt matter (except potatos) but it needs to be male. When you picture a samurai you don't see a cute little kawaii girl, no you picture a strong independent guy( any race except potatos) wielding a bow in tow and a large katana in armor.
Or a lone ronin wanderer searching for either redemption or vengeance

For the sake of concept art (similar to the WoL party of male PLD/WAR/BLM, female WHM/BRD), he is, yes.

I'd be happy with a female SAM for concept art. The only real question to me is whether I'll be happy with the XIV incarnation of SAM, gameplay-wise, when it comes...

Is the Elezen BLM in the WoL party, male or female? Cause the 2D image is female, but I never really paid attention to the 3D in game rendition.

I though Yoshi-P wanted Derplander to be the face of samurai?

Yoshi might have him transition to Samurai, like he did with Dragoon. But each job has a main concept image, and Derplander is already for Warrior. Although, they could use another Midlander Male Hyur for Samurai, though i hope they don't I love the contrast of stereotypical gender roles, like female healers and male attackers. Give us male healers and female attackers. XD

I'm confused, where in the race selection are you seeing potatoes? Sorry, "Potatos". Are Potatos a new race? I hope so, getting sick of all the boring Hyur clones.
