    It's that time again, really.

We know we're in a catch up patch, and the novelty of what 3.3 brought is now effectively "old". 3.35 only introduced PotD and Feast Season 2, but if you don't PvP - and many sadly don't - Palace is all there is for you right now. And while that alone isn't meant to be all engrossing, many have burned straight through it, leaving them ill at ease. Already talk of "the server is dead" and "I'm moving to X server" has started up as it does when each patch effectively begins aging, and this happens faster during catch up patches. It happens so much that I generally don't say much about it anymore, except go point out these facts.

My advice to the OP is take a break and play other things for a while. Do other things you enjoy, OR try something in game you've never tried. You might like it. Even if not, you lose nothing, and can freely take a break as you like. If you find something you enjoy more and don't come back, it's still a win for you. If you DO however want to come back, you'll find taking a break will be refreshing and healthy for you.

I'm a newer player and still running 2.x content, so threads like this make me say "???" But I do try to be understanding since I know those who start such threads have usually been playing the game a really long time. However, I'm not really sure what kind of expectations the hardcore players have of this game, and the creators behind it. I get the impression from these players that DD would somehow get them to put both feet back in this thing when in all honesty, if you're on the brink of leaving, a patch isn't going to provide the game changing mechanics that will keep you interested.

You really have to think about what exactly your expectations are. If you look in the mirror and see that what you really want is a new game, then you have to play a new game. Perhaps you desire a new Final Fantasy MMO? If that is the case, it isn't available. Perhaps the devs should go ahead and release content that even they can't clear and see if the players can do it. I don't know. I hate to see players go, I know that. But sometimes i think the devs fight a winless battle with the hardcores.

The term a lot of people are looking for here is "jaded". It's not a bad thing. It's what happens when you spend a lot of time with something only to find yourself tired/depleted/bored of the same old thing.
Announcing your condition on the forums is pretty much like Ming the Merciless saying "Klytus, I'm bored. What play thing can you offer me today"? Unfortunately, Klytus doesn't reply.

Go out and find something else you can enjoy. As a start, try for something that is outside the MMORPG genre. Video games, that "catch 'em" game popular on my son's Android phone, camping, sing-a-longs. OK, maybe a video game then. Maybe not. Watch the entire 12 seasons of NCIS currently available for streaming. Read a book, or two, or ten. Start a tabletop roleplaying group.

If you want some validation that you're become jaded, consider this it. Been there, done that with other MMOs myself. Some you can come back to, some you never will.
No worries if either of those things happen.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Every MMO has threads like these, and many times, that same person is posting again in a week. I'm sure some of them do indeed leave, but many of them seem to be seeking attention more than anything. Just remember: the vast majority of players are enjoying themselves and don't take the time to make a post about it.

Honestly, I believe people make these threads so they can be convinced to stay. Just like that 100+ page "I think its time" thread where the OP just ended up staying anyway. Interesting that today's generation needs so much validation in order to spend money that they aren't sure they want to. Maybe they should up the credit card age.

Is there anything wrong with trying to find reasons to stay, though? "I've run out of avenues to have fun in this game and any hope that such will appear any time soon. Please advise," isn't exactly outlandish.

You do you, OP. At least you're rational enough to recognize that you're no longer having fun and have decided to move on. Unlike certain other people who clearly don't like the game and whine about it at every possible opportunity, but still continue to lurk around like a local wino. Or when people have a fit when you suggest that they take a break from doing something if they dislike it.

Posts like this are not constructive and are unneeded. The devs encourage people to post why they are leaving here for feedback, same on the WoW forums. So yeah someone does care. :P

It kind of is since people like to make a spectacle about leaving. If this particular individual wanted to be taken seriously about the issues they are having with the game, then articulate it as such completely, not "I'm leaving and might not come back." Doing so only draws trolls (like myself) and other people rolling their eyes saying "Not another one of these." Of course there are many people who do not like the game in its current state, myself included, but many dont need validation to leave, since I suppose many of us have more self-assurance. For example, I tend to come back to the game only for the story, usually around free logins, but I wanted to use my amazon codes and stick around for deep dungeon so I paid a sub for the first time this year, then I'll leave again. I dont need a thread saying what I'm doing, I just do it lol and so do many others. Am I saying follow the crowd? No. But if someone needs reassurance in making decisions about themselves in terms of entertainment, one has to question if entertainment is really the most important thing they are looking for or something else.

I will say that the "I guess its time" thread did spark a lot of good discussion amongst the community and also broadened the NA/EU awareness of how the JP community feels about the game, since we desire similar interests for the game. But sadly, that might not be known given the title of the thread in itself. People should try to make things more interactive if they have issues with the game, which the JP community tends to do, or so it has been translated to me. Words like "I" "me" "my" are very powerful and come across as arrogant to a lot of people, drawing conclusions such as "Who is this person? Why should I care?" which is something you dont want companies to think either since they will automatically skip it even if it has a lot of good information in it.

Serious question here; I didn't want to make yet another thread like this so I figured I'd post here. Is there a way to erase your character data completely? I know you can unsubscribe, but I'm talking about erasing your toon. There's probably some stupidly obvious way that I've missed... but yeah.

Frankly, I'm a little too naive when it comes to FF...I get too trusting. Usually I'm not, but for some reason I get my hopes up every time when they are talking about the next patch, or their future plans...and I resub. Stupidly. I regret it within the week, but I've already given them my money. Point is....I'm tired. I'm tired of the misdirection, the way they talk about all these amazing, promising concepts...and then never, ever implement them. I'm tired of watching the quality of patches drop with each new one...I'm tired of watching the game I used to love turn into what it is now. Yet I know once they start talking about the new patch, or 'planned features', I'll fall for it again. So if the option is available, I'm rather heavily considering deleting my character; that way next time I get naive, I'll remember that there's nothing to go back to...and I can move on.

...wow I got a bit wordy there. Sorry for that, but is there a way?
