Maybe something expansion themed, like an Ishgard map or something? That way they could add new maps as each expansion came out as a means of shameless self-advertising lol.

I keep wondering if they're ever going to do anything with the Lightfeather Proving Ground in Foundation... The Blacksmith quest had it play hold to a knights tournament, I think it makes sense to have it as an additional PvP map eventually... This was released around Wolves Den, and I guess it's meant to be that arena, but I swear it looks more like the Proving Grounds...

It looks Ul'duh like to me. High, many-windowed walls, but without quite the militaristic look or pronounced balustrades that I'd expect from Ishgardian architecture. I'm probably totally wrong, but for me it seems like a city-center arena other than the Colosseum? Seems to have an octagonal canopy over the area, with sun slits, which I don't remember seeing among the Ishgardians. And the ground looks more like sand than snow to me, but artistic license and lighting makes that ambiguous at best. For all I know that may be exactly the components of the Proving Grounds and I've just somehow forgotten the place entirely.

Also that mancat is really pushing for Miqote master DRG race...

No, but unlike the Colosseum you can enter the Proving Grounds whenever, it's not locked behind a quest. I think it was used for one or two fetch quests and that was it, it's just kinda there, unused... Interestingly, the map has two halves, but you can only access one of them... All we have now is pretty much a viewing platform, so I wonder if it might be used for the spectator matches that Yoshida has mentioned on occasion... The Colosseum, while seemingly great for that, doesn't really have anywhere you can watch from... There's a bit outside the Gladiators guild looking down on it, but I don't think that's ideal...

It's perhaps more likely to be used for something Chocobo Companion related, given that is it's main purpose according to the NPC there, but they also mention that it gets rented out for other private and public uses, so I could see the Eorzean Alliance renting it for some PvP...

As far as the artwork being the Colosseum goes, it's too gray IMO... Ul'dah is very yellow/orange, Limsa is white/some wood, this looks very much like it's built out of gray stone, like much of Ishgard. The Proving Grounds are also indoors, so no snow, and the arena is floored with sand, while the Colosseum actually isn't. It's most likely an artistic representation of the Wolves Den, but it looks a lot like the Proving Grounds to me...

Honestly, that NPC gave me the strong impression that it was used for cock fights. It really didn't sound all that civilized. That said, I kind of expected to see it used in some form or another by now. Perhaps some kind of Chocobo PvP? I don't have much experience with Lords of Vermilion, but there could be some potential to pit your bird against other birds in there ... assuming the community on the whole is okay with cock fighting. Regardless, the only other Ishgard themed arena-ish locale that I can think of is the Tribunal, where we did a Trial by Combat against a few HW knights, and I just don't think the lore would work for that. I doubt it's the kind of place that Ishgard would just rent out, unless we changed the team names to 'Inmates' and 'Guards.' The Proving Grounds seems like the more appropriate option, lore-wise.

I'm not sure I can think of any other arena-ish places that would work. The Grand Melee was held in the middle of nowhere, so that's out. The Steps is a public place when it's not being dive-bombed by angry dragons, so that's not an option either. Falcon's Nest is too small and lacks any arena-ish areas ... Perhaps an air-arena would work? I'm thinking along similar lines of the arena we have, only on the decks of airships rather than traditional ones. Or perhaps flying islands like in Bismark's Trial? Either would be cool, so long as the background was more interesting then just 'clouds.'

There are lots of arenas like this could be used. I'd love to have pvp in the gladiators arena in Ul dah (extra dialog if you completed the lvl 30 GLA quest?), or even Halatali, we could have one map representing each region (though the shroud is more difficult). I find it a disappointing trend that they keep making new maps for frontlines when feast was really the mode that was more popular. I'd like for them to drop the frontlines concept and focus more on wolves den game modes, with new maps.
