How best to make gil?

I'm a level 60 scholar/summoner, (with very few other classes even really touched), and I'm looking to find out how best to make some gil. During the course of my entire playtime from 1 to 60, I've made about 700k, however I hear people can make millions in a day with very little effort.

Googling hasn't helped me much, so I come to you lovely forum goers in hopes of a guiding hand.

Not sure how you managed that, because the story line 1-50 gives you a total of 1.3 mil. The story line 50-60 gives you 2.1 mil total. Now if we include the daily roulette's even if you're not a adventurer in need, the primals, any other dungeon that you need to unlock anyways, side quests etc. that adds up to nearly 4 million. So I doubt you made just 700k, somehow that tells me you probably logged into the game and then went afk. But as others mentioned crafting/gathering does give some money, not on your server so, since everything is dirt cheap compared to servers with barely any population and therefore a higher demand on mats/items. Give it a shot and see how it works out for you.
