Ok, I just saw the content in the link. If that is factual, how come a GM couldn't just reply with that? Something about it all seems odd to me.
Ok, well, I guess I am hanging onto the house then.

I see what they are saying about the link. I paid 37.5m for my house, then they changed the cost to 20m...so if I were to try to recoup that cost, it could be seen one way or another in the way you portray.
I am still looking for a straight answer from an actual GM, but in the meantime I guess I am hanging on to the property.
We have warned you, we linked a thread with evidence that people selling them have been punished and the GM supervisor saying selling plots or estates is against the ToS. He explains this information has been passed along to all GM's so that they now have a uniformed approach to dealing with it. If you sell it, you cannot use the excuse you have not been warned about it breaking the ToS. Either relinquish for no return or wait till reclaim is restarted for a large portion of the plot price back.I have emailed the GM about this, and I have gotten responses like:
"We understand that you have been discharged from your fc and lost your room..." (totally off topic)
And..."we cannot provide guides or info on in-game mechanics..."
Still not close....
So even if I sold it and was sent to GM jail, they can't say I didn't try to find the answer.

SE doesn't operate in black and white terms they have lot of grey areas that allows GMs to act as needed. Also I would think they would look at what considered a exorbitant price based on what house sells for from the game system not what you spent (the 100 million as another person said) on decorations or what not.
It 'was' a grey area, it is not anymore. All GM's have been given clear guidelines on it now as to it breaking the ToS. In the past there was conflicting GM statements because they were not all on the same page but now they are.SE doesn't operate in black and white terms they have lot of grey areas that allows GMs to act as needed. I had a conversation with GM. If I figure out how to post it, I will
how do you knw what guidelines GM's have been given???? Do you work for SE??? Sometimes these forums people act a lot higher than their station...
Anyways, he said: "since the selling of land isn't a direct transaction within our games system it can lead to serious complications. These complications come at the risk of being found guilty of inappropriate behavior towards others, which leads to punishment, so we advise you to use your best judgement, based on these risks. Any further discussion on the matter cannot be provided. No I cannot give a direct answer for you." (Because I asked for a can i/can't I)
Not sure if I read it here or on reddit but someone was punished after selling his house for way less than it would cost on the market so it seems that any selling of houses is now against the TOS (and I approve of that).
Even if you sell it for half of the price that you paid for, the buyer still has to pay the real housing price on top of that, so it will always be higher than just buying a free plot.
If the OP does not believe whats written in the answers than he is free to do what he wants. Just don't be surprised if you get a ban. (Something does not have to be exactly written in the TOS to be part of it. The only important thing is how SE sees it and for them its now against the TOS)
Edit: found it: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...esults_in_ban/

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
