true I have no intention of crafting until late late game if I am forced to craft then whats the point of calling this an mmo? I should be able to do w.e I want but apparently it doesn't seem so.They don't matter if you're only up to L20. What are you going to do? Repair your L40+ gear? Not going to happen. Craft yourself some L30+ gear? Again, doesn't work. I guess you can make gil by gathering but I never bothered with it and I have no gil problems.
Also, crafting is so boring telling someone they need R20 in crafts is probably the best way to make them immediately uninstall the game.
Let's see what you can do with level 1-20 crafting:They don't matter if you're only up to L20. What are you going to do? Repair your L40+ gear? Not going to happen. Craft yourself some L30+ gear? Repair low level gear
Make low level gear
Gain profit through creation of low level gear
Cross-class crafting skills
The ability to create on-demand materials
Repairs in the field
etc.
Arguing that crafting is useless is completely short-sighted & ignorant.
Telling me I said he "needed" to have all classes leveled shows a terrible problem with reading comprehension, please read on:
I bolded the important part for you less educated folk.At this point you will have a good base for your character build, you will have gil accumulated from crafting/gathering (sell stuff to NPCs, in wards, etc. If you don't like crafting, sell your shards/crystals.) and you will have a good amount of base experience.
You can. No one said you had to do anything, run into the game and do whatever your little heart desires.
None of that matters one bit once your DoW gets past L30.
Despite hating crafting, I probably would do it if it actually gave me some benefits. Right now all I can make is gear that's too low level to be of use and I can't repair most of my gear, either. What exactly do you suggest I do? Craft items to sell? Don't make me laugh. I can earn much faster by simply fighting and my retainers are brimming with unsold wares anyway.
It does give benefits. Binding materia to gear, repairing gear in the field, creating quite literally, the best available equipment in the game. That's the direction the game is going. Even now, all the best gear is not stuff from dungeons but from crafts. All of that cool, nifty stuff from Darkhold? Crap when compared to crafted gear with materia. Hell, from what a lot of the high-end LSes show, it might actually be impossible to beat level 50 Ifrit without crafted materia-infused gear.Despite hating crafting, I probably would do it if it actually gave me some benefits. So, if you don't want it to be ridiculously expensive to gear your character, investing time into Crafting/Gathering is hands down the best bet. This is the reason I am kicking myself for not ranking it sooner, because once all the "dated xxxx" recipes are removed in 1.20/1.21, it'll be more difficult to level crafting. Unless they provide more interesting things for crafters to do.
I'm not saying it's fun, nor am I saying it's ideal for anyone to do. But it has the greatest benefits for a player, especially if you don't have a good hefty LS to help you.
I was only arguing against getting multiple crafts to a low to mid level. Crafts at 50 are extremely useful but getting there requires you to either bot or go insane of boredom because you're doing a robot's work.
